Hey everyone!

I've been doing some reading on the forum and am currently getting all of my paperwork together to apply for my CCW permit.

Don't have a gun yet that I would like to carry but am shopping around for one.  Currently own a Ruger P95 9mm and a Mossberg 500.

Welcome to the forum.

My input is nearly worthless, since I don't have much experience with too many different handguns.  But, I'll throw out my experience for you to consider, and you can apply as weight to it as you wish.

I had a Taurus PT111 9mm.  Very nice gun...comfortable, concealed well, never failed with any ammunition I ran through it.  But, after a couple of years it lost its accuracy.  So, I lost confidence in it.

I sold the Taurus and bought a Glock 26 - 4th Generation.  So far I love it.  It also is comfortable, conceals well, has never failed with any ammunition I have run through it, and remains quite accurate.  The only thing I didn't like was the short grip...I had to add the mag extension, so my pinkie could play an active roll in the grip.

I also have a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 - full size.  This also is a very nice gun...comfortable, reliable, and accurate.

Good luck, and try before you buy...

Welcome Keith.Eric
I as you can tell am also a Ruger owner. I carry a SR9 all day, everyday. I have no problem with the size or weight. But thats me. You might want to try the SR9C little brother to my gun. It wasn't out yet when I got mine. It was rated the gun of the year when it came out. Since you have a Ruger now, you must be aware, it is  "Made in USA" . This was one of the main reasons I bought mine.  I have had my DECCW for about a year and have not needed to use my SR9 in a personal protection situation. but the thing I like is with a full mag + a spare, I have 35 rounds of fire power (hollow points of course). I use a IWB Deep Comfort holster I got from www.theholsterstore.com in Florida. Price is right and had in my hands 4 days from the time I ordered it. They have a very large selection of holsters of all kind.
Hopefully some of this may be of use to you. Best tip of the day, go to a store that has a firing range and try shooting different guns before you buy any gun. I got mine from Guns and Goodies in Dover, received good attention and they have great product knowledge, in spite of some of what you may have heard. But that's just me.

I remember Guns And Goodies from decades ago...use to be one in Seaford, too.

I was not aware this store was still around.  Where in Dover is it?

Welcome!  My first carry was a Ruger P95 and is still in service.  I truly respect this piece as it was very well designed. Concealment isn’t that hard and it’s plenty of clout when needed.

I carry a Glock 9mm or a .38 revolver - get something you will be comfortable carrying consistently.

Fdegree,

Sorry, I meant Shooter Choice. Had a brain fart don't you know. But yes, there was a Guns and Goodies in the Dover area. Actually south of Camden on SW corner of Rt. 13 and Lockmeath Way, owned by people named Smith, I believe. Some may remember that.

Welcome and take your time finding the right fit of gun for yourself.   Trust me.  I have 10 handguns from spontaneous purchases that I wouldn't even think about carrying concealed now that I have my CCW.
