Just curious how many members here carry a 1911, regardless of caliber or size.
I have been carrying a 1911 for about 5 years or so now.
-
Too large for me, I carry the S&W M&P Shield 9mm.
I like my 1911 better but to large.
-
I toss one on now and then just for something different. I have no issues with a full size or commander size IWB. The Walther PPQ however is rarely not on my side.
-
I carry a full size 1911 with a Bianchi shoulder rig. No issues. Being Italian I figure it goes well with the gold neck chains and polyester suit jacket.

And to counter balance the weight of the 1911, you carry your brass knuckles and lead sap next to your Ka-Bar on the other side?
-
I find no issues with the weight at all, a good belt takes care of it.

And they sell great gun belts at AGN Leather in the New Castle Farmer's Market, cut to length.

I will rotate my 1911 into my EDC on occasion but I really need a better holster.

Hawkeye.. I use the MTAC holster from comp-tac.com and find it to be a great fit for our 1911. I also use their reinforced belt. Together they securely carry the weight of the firearm. I have no issues walking, running, crawling under the car, rolling around the yard with the kid, etc with it on. Not the cheapest setup but neither is it the most expensive. It works for me though.

I have been using Silent Thunder for many years, awesome

carry a couple of different 1911 style.... Kimber and now a Colt. I kinda like 1911 style
-
I carry a kimber , have it on right now. Thinking of a STI .
-
1911 is my favorite pistol but too heavy for me. I carry the M&P Shield.

More than 30 years ago I made a pancake style holster for a 1911 at a military craft shop. As an MP Investigator I carried a 1911 and I needed a holster so I made it myself. I had given it to a family member some years ago and as luck would have it, it was just returned to me. It is quite rudimentary by today’s standards but it works with my new 1911 better than my two store bought holsters.

as soon as i get my CC, i want one. I will be going to Federalfirearms for that. Bought the S&W SD9ve already.

For those who think it's too heavy check out Rugers new light weight Commander (http://www.alloutdoor.com/2016/08/10/review-ruger-sr1911-lightweight-commander/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=2016-08-13&utm_campaign=Weekly+Newsletter) ;D

that trigger looks plastic
-
watched a few video's, not plastic obviously. do they make one with a 5 inch barrel?
-
Not yet it's just the commander though I suspect they will bring one out full sized at some point. We have the all stainless commander and I really like it.
-
I carry a Springfield EMP 9MM or a Kimber ultra + CDP with 3 inch barrel In a Desantis belt holster. not too heavy.
