Title: Nylon Belt
Post by: hap_hazzard on August 11, 2018, 02:32:24 PM
Hello All,

I recently tried a new belt and thought I’d share opinions on the chance it might be useful to folks here.

I had been using $10 “leather” belts from tractor supply as a carry belt. Over time the effects of age slowly started to set in. I have a bit of a belly and well to be honest while driving the belt hurt as it dug into my gut. I am working in the but in the mean time I needed a short term solution.

Amazon has a Nylon belt that works pretty good and for the price is quite comfortable. It also supports my holster and firearm well.   What I found with a conventional belt is that I do not seem to match up with the predefined holes so this solution works for me.

It is a Packetop Tactical Belt; under $20 on amazon and available in several color choices. I did find a couple of negatives with it but all in all a decent solution. The first was that when a drew by firearm, the holster came with it—not good. I changed the clips out and good to go. Now have “C” clips on the alien gear IWB 3.0.   The second issue is that it requires me to suck in my gut a bit to buckle but once on it is fine.

I hope this post proves useful to a fellow carrier.

Admins,

I just realized I created this in the wrong spot. Sorry. Should have been under equipment review thread.

i disagree, you're giving up an option to using another type of belt. So i think it's in the right place. I also have tried a belt fro tractor supply, it was ok but i also bought a few tactical belts and like the connector better, A standard belt has it's place, but not so much for us belly guys trying to carry.

I am 5'9" and weight 180-185. I have a leather belt I got from Walmart for $14.99 about 10 years ago. I wear it every day. I also have another one from Walmart that I wear on weekends. you have probably seen them. they are the ones with the shotgun looking brass shell on them. I believe it is also under $15.00. My Kydex Holster has a belt clip for retention, that grabs under the belt. I have never found the need to buy expensive belts, especially since nobody sees them anyhow. Concealed means concealed.

I was going to post under a new topic but think this is close enough.
I am 5'9", 165 lbs.  I have a leather belt that is 1 1/2" high (?) and 3/16 thick.  It seems sturdy enough, but when I'm wearing my clinger IWB in the 5 o'clock position with my P365XL, it sags a little.  The manufacturers of carry belts always tout that you need an extra heavy-duty carry belt.  This seems a little counter-intuitive to me... the gun is not that heavy.... Have any of you used the double thickness heavy-duty carry belt vs. a "normal" belt as I describe above?  Is it woth the $60.00 for a true carry belt?

I'm still wearing the belts described  in the 2018 posting. $15.00 Walmart.

I'm on my second extra-heavy belt from the leather shop at the NCCo farmer's market. They eventually get scuffed up, but they don't really sag at all. I think they're about fifty bucks.
I've lost weight, so I need another one.

I see the market is open this weekend. If they did reopen, they'll probably offer to trim mine down and re-dye it for a few bucks, but I'll buy a new one (heck, they must need the money) and also pay them to re-dye my two old ones in case my appetite comes back, and I could use a wallet...

Thanks for the updates guys.

I usually keep back some of my larger clothes for a while after losing some weight.. I think getting rid of them right away is just inviting the weight to come back on!
I haven't been to that Farmers Market in ages - I live in Kent County like SturmRugerSR9

I have black 1.5 for jeans & black & brown 1.25 for dress belts from Hanks Belts.
They used to be titled as Amish belts....  With todays BS who knows....

+1 for Hanks belts. I find them very durable and heavy duty.

Sent an email requesting that my on-order belt be punched at half normal spacing. Received this prompt response:
I do apologize for any inconvenience, however we are unable to punch holes here. Unfortunately, we cannot make any customizations to any of our belts.

We do recommend perhaps taking it to a local leather shop if you desire something such as that.

Again, my apologies that I cannot help you out further.

Apparently Hanks Belts is the distributor not the manufacturer.
Will comment on belt when received. It is “on the way”.

Good suggestion. Have had one of those for forty+ years.  Punches round hole with difficulty on this heavy of a belt. Also the holes in the Hanks Belts are oblong.
Question: does anyone else add intermediate spaced holes in their carry belt?
