New Gun shop in N. Wilmington!?!?
« on: January 13, 2014, 05:00:10 AM »
Drove by a new store on Marsh Road and then Googled the name.  Found a posting on craiglist with the name.

I would be inclined to say NO. Everything about the craigslist hiring post says this is not someone I would choose to do business with.

once you have to go thru the gauntlet of atf,   and get your papers.   I don't see anything wrong with his add.

the whole prep thing. in north wilm?  IMHO,  naw.

competition for targetmaster?       good location.

What we need up here is a nice, modern indoor range.

Not someplace to buy stuff that you can get on the Internet.

Agreed. Targetmaster is great, but frequently over-crowded. Ommelanden isn't open enough, in my opinion. A new range here would take the pressure off.

Exactly... Another public range is needed.

Somewhere just off of I-95 between Wilmington & Newark.

Will attract the severely deprived MD folks.
Plus close to the new Cabelas.

Or, we could set it up on North Market Street... a well-managed range would probably reduce the atmospheric flying lead content in that part of town.  ;D

Great idea, I just happen to own a very nice warehouse property a couple of blocks East of Market St.

Couple of issues:
1). Getting the city to let you do it.
2). What do you do about the local gang bangers, drug dealers etc. who want to use the range?
3). Figure $150K to $250K for nice computerized range equipment, construction, HVAC etc.
4). Would potential users want to come into the city?

It probably would reduce the neighborhood crime rate substantially.

Anyone with answers, feel free to PM me or post your suggestions.

Not a chance
More paying customers.. The buck doesn't discriminate
100k per shooting lane ; 200k for the HVAC
I'd say plenty of people

Overall I think it would be a great thing for the area. The city would never allow it though.

1.) Getting the city's approval wouldn't be too hard if you went about it the right way. When we opened our central Florida location, we were initially told there was "no way the city will allow it". In the end, we did it.

2.) As a business owner, you reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason. The issue comes if someone can show a pattern consistent with discrimination. For example: of the 300 people you refused admission, 95% were Jewish.

3.) Your initial costs would be closer to 1 to 1.5 million for a basic setup depending on the building's current infrastructure.

4.) I think your biggest obstacle would be safe parking etc.
