Why anyone concealing a weapon would wear a badge advertising it?

Not that I endorse these badges in any way, but there is one benefit to them. If your gun is ever accidentally exposed, it could save you from having to explain yourself to police. From my experience, the general public views guns as evil and dangerous however; when accompanied by a badge of any kind, they are considered much less sinister. Most people will just automatically recognize the shape and color and assume its official, and not examine the badge close enough to realize that it just says Concealed Carry Specialist or CCDW holder, etc.
If someone insisted on carrying one of these badges, I would only wear it close to the gun, so if it is accidentally exposed, the badge is seen with the gun. It should go without saying, but pinned to the chest or hanging around the neck are not appropriate places to wear them.

This is just a silly idea for cop wannabes and breeds dangerous ideas and cultivates the notion of impersonating a police officer.
It belies the "C" in CCW.

NO!!! BAD, BAD, BAD IDEA!!!
CCW badge will serve no purpose other then it will get you reported for impersonating a police officer.  Witnesses are historically unreliable and when they see a badge and a handgun together to them that says police officer whether you actually said it or not.  If you want to use one to pick up girls at the local bar that is fine but when you combine a handgun with a badge you are only asking for trouble.

I strongly agree with Hawkeye.
If anyone sees your gun, you need a lawyer.
If you show them some kind of badge, you'll be calling the lawyer from a holding cell.

Oh just for the record, I do agree with Hawkeye. I guess it all depends on what kind of personality you have. I'm a very humble and quiet person. I definetly wouldn't flash my badge to anybody. The whole idea of carrying concealed is so nobody knows your carrying. A badge used the WRONG way could cause major problems.

I have been told by a few Officers that they will get you into trouble and can cost you your permit for impersonating a Police Officer.

To me wearing a "CC Badge" is like saying, "I am carrying concealed (hidden), and I want EVERYONE to know it". Is that dumb or what?

For me the whole concept of a badge is it identifies the person who possesses, displays or is wearing one has some type legal authority defined by law. To the best of my knowledge i don't recall any part of the Delaware state code mentioning a requirement to carry a Concealed Carry Badge.

now lets think about this:

Lets say you find yourself in handcuffs in the back of a police car because you had to draw your weapon or even worse use it to defend yourself. It does not matter whether your actions are justifiable the AGs office will contemplate whether or not they have a case against you. It could be anything from disturbing the peace, reckless endangerment, assault, attempted murder, manslaughter or murder. It  depend on how the incident unfolds. were there witness, what did the witness see and what do they remember?  all of that will come in to play after after an incident,

But i digress... come trial time imagine the type of picture that a prosecutor will be able to paint in the minds of a jury if one of the pieces of evidence is a Concealed Carry Badge that you carried next to your firearm or in you wallet... "Vigilante" "Cop impersonator" "Cop wannabe"

Don't believe me.
just ask your self why in title 11 Section 464 of the Delaware state code covering the Use of force in self-protection identifies the person who is protecting themselves as the Defendant?

I know i'm talking about absolute worst case scenario but that is why we have carry permanents because we know that the worst case scenarios do happen every day.

I agree with you completely, in my CCW class the instructors sold these badges during the break. I didn't think it was a good idea however it seemed to me it was all about money and not common sense. I thought about it for a moment it just didn't seem to fit in my program as far as concealment and it's meaning.

If this was a class for people interested in getting a CCW, (but didn't have one now) why would this "instructor" sell such a thing as a badge? Seems he needs to rethink his actions. I think trying to intimidate with a fire arm is illegal, and this may be also. Sounds like a bad idea to me.

??? I agree, I think most everyone agrees that the badge is a bad idea. The class that I attended in Middletown also pushed badges at break time and the instructor is a police officer, you'd think he'd know better, but at $25/$35 per badge it's all about the money.  :o
