Title: Just Got My Opposition Letter from the DOJ. Now what?
Post by: Tezz500 on April 17, 2014, 01:23:08 AM
I received my Opposition letter in the Mail today.

Its states that my Driving Record and my Criminal History are the Reasons the DOJ is opposing my Application.

I haven't had a Driving Violation in over 3 years.
My "Criminal Record" consists of:

12/2007:
Rabies Inoculation for Dogs.
Dog License.
8/2005
Criminal Contempt- Disobedience to Process Injunction / Mandate

I have some Nolle Pros Charges that came about from the Divorce back in 05' Nothing Violent and the Charges were obviously Dropped.

Any Insight? I have made some inquiries with several Lawyers but I would like someone thats gonna get the job done on this one.

What were your driving violations before 3 years ago?

I suspect the domestics might be the main issue.  9 years ago might sway the judge.  Not really sure if having a lawyer helps.

I only have 2nd hand knowledge of a person who was denied and it was for domestic issues. No convictions but it was only three years and the judge told him to come back in a year or so.

They do look at driving record as well.  Looking for irresponsibility I think rather than an isolated ticket.

Hope it works out. Welcome to " May issue".

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Recieved my Permit today.

Judge ruled back in June that I had to complete both the basic and advanced defensive driving courses, wait six month without getting any more violations and he would approve the license.

So heres the break down.
Time Frame:
I filled in March,
Received permit in December.

Cost:
Passport photos:$20
Driving record: $20
Finger Printing: $70
Attorney Retainer: $1000
DD classes: $40
CCW Class: $175
Filling fee: $65

Total out the door:
10 months time
$1390.00

Congratulations for sticking with it! Many would have caved at the $1000 legal retainer on top of the CCDW requirement costs. That's one month longer than it took us. Stay safe!
