Hi folks,
I just found this site and registered. It looks like a great site with lots of good information.
I have been working toward my permit for a few years.... I used to be a police officer but didn't "retire" so wasn't able to just move into a permit and had to take the course and things just distracted me for a long while. But, today I submitted the application packet and hope to see a permit in the mail within a few months.

Welcome aboard, don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but my wife just got hers in the mail and it took 6 months!! I hope New Castle County works faster than Kent County

Welcome, SimpleMan! I just received my permit in NCCo; I waited almost exactly four months.

I don't have high hopes the State Government will process my permit quickly. Why should they deviate from normal practice.
At times I wonder if the process is made a bit more complex than necessary just to discourage some people. However, doing my best to look at it from a neutral position I think it is just well intentioned people trying to do what they think is right and State employees doing what they do the way they do it.... not to denigrate anyone because I am sure they are over worked and underpaid but 6 months... come on.
