Guns in Delaware: Can local government officials keep firearms out of town halls?

Visitors to the Levy Court building are screened for weapons and firearms. Employees and the public may only possess a firearm on county property if engaged in military or law-enforcement activities; or legally in possession of a firearm for which the person holds a valid permit to carry a concealed deadly weapon.
Simply doesn't square with state law.

As for how Newark could secure its building, Lawson suggests posting a sign outside.
"State law says that if it's posted, 'No Guns,' you can't do it," said Lawson, a retired state trooper who founded a Cheswold indoor firing range and gun shop.
Ahh.. Didn't think signs saying No Guns had any merit in Delaware.

Anti-gun law attempts are far from over. Gov. Markell, Lt. Gov. Denn, Sen. Marshall, Mayor Williams, and Att. Gen. Biden are in the process of having "a wide variety of anti-gun bills to the Legislature. In addition. don't forget that Federally, All three Delaware Congressmen (Carper, Coons, and Carney) have and will vote for any anti-gun bills presented. Time for them and all the anti-gun politicians to go.
Don't be fooled. You have not won the gun debate. It is very much alive and lurking in the Legislature in State and Federal Government.

They don't. Once again, someone who doesn't know the law is quoted and now the public will want no gun signs up everywhere. State Troopers aren't lawyers. They know the laws that they have to enforce. First, if you're carrying concealed, why would anyone know you're carrying???? They shouldn't. That means not telling your next door neighbor that you're carrying to the city council meeting too. Second, why are people failing to realize that the population who has gone through the proper channels to obtain a concealed permit are not the ones they have to worry about?? This is frustrating to say the least.

Dave Lawson is also a politician. Worth noting. But Kent County has an armed guard and scanner at the entrance of their building. Signs too. They claim its a state owned building but its not.

Yep. Never had a use for him before he became a politician, have no use for him now. He's supposedly "pro 2A", but he always seems to be sticking his foot in his mouth, or speaking against the 2A, when he's in the spot light.
It doesn't have to be a state owned building... in fact, state owned buildings are not listed as buildings where you can't carry. FEDERAL buildings are, as well as detention facilities, police stations, etc. I'm not in the habit of going and testing the state buildings procedures for things like CCW.. if anyone else does, let me know what they say LOL.
Per DE law... places we can not carry concealed:
Federal Buildings
State approved "SLOTS" (although I can't find anything in written law specifically mentioning them.. and I'm not taking any chances)
Courthouses, police stations, prisons and other detention facilities’ (Title 11 §1256 & §1258).
State/National Forest (Del. Regulation 3.400.8.8).
Wildlife Management Areas (Del. Regulation 7.8.3.4.1).
State Parks (Del. Regulation 7.9000.24.3, enforced by §4704(4)).

Wait... isn't something in the works to change the limit on State Parks or Wildlife Management Areas?? I can't remember.

My father was the Delaware State Forester for 43 years. Always carried a gun when he went into state forests, but then they were his woods so to speak.
