I know this makes me sound stuck up going to an Opera House, but there was a jazz musician playing there that my wife wanted to see. I didn't notice any signs, and no problem carrying in. Before we left home, my wife asks "you are going to carry the gun right?" I said "yes dear." Then she says " I hope so...this is downtown Wilmington we're talking about."

The Grand is a wonderful venue. I've seen the acapela group "Straight No Chaser" and "The Glenn Miller Orchestra" there. Nothing stuffy about it at all. Hope you enjoyed the show.

Hope you enjoyed the concert and your wife sounds like a great lady. I think you are lucky to have her.

Nothing stuffy about the Grand, it's a great venue for live shows. I've seen everything from Chet Atkins to Government Mule, Itzhak Perlman to Derek Trucks, Alison Krauss to Lyle Lovett, Peter Frampton to Brian Regan, Postmodern Jukebox to Brian Setzer ... and a bunch more I can't think of right now.

Wow...I wish I had seen Brian Setzer. dagnabit...I missed that one

Wow. I didn't know the Grand was that popular. We went to see Chris Botti. If you're not familiar with him, he's known as a jazz trumpeter, but the talent he brought with him was amazing. He had a guy with an Opera back round singing a song Chris wrote, and the guy also sang with a girl playing symphonic violin. She played another song that sounded a little like it came from the Phantom of the Opera (but I don't think it was.), and she ran right from that song into Lead Zeppelin. She got a standing ovation.
I'll keep my eye on the Grand for more entertainment.
Thanks guys.

I wore out two copies of Live Nude Guitars on cassette. That was a great guitar record!

I always carry at the Grand. Night time in Wilmington with the wife. Defiantly not going unarmed.

He's a great entertainer as well as a great guitarist. The show we saw was his Christmas Extravaganza with a full jazz band; one of my favorite concerts ever!

Has the status at the Grand changed? I am going with my wife tomorrow and I have always carried there and hope to again.
-
Nope. You are good to go. Was there last night for Gaelic Storm. Enjoy the show.

Thank you!

Went to the Grand Thursday to see Leann Rimes and they had security with a metal detector wand. Needless to say I put the gun back into the car. I assume it depends on the artist if they're checking.
-
Baby grand last night NOTHING.
Grand tonight, let you know
-
Depends on who is performing i think. Got in tonight no wands. Left it home brought a cane & knife instead.

It's the performer. I went there a couple of years ago to see Pat Benatar and nothing. Unfortunately you have to roll the dice when you go. I did see a cool little object which looks like a sharpie pen but actually has a very hard tip for stabbing. Pretty cool may purchase.
