Title: TIME TO BE THINKING OF DECCW PERMIT RENEWAL
Post by: SturmRugerSR9 on December 03, 2014, 02:04:25 PM
As the year is winding down, it's time to start thinking about renewing you DECCW permit. As of now the fee stays the same at $65.00 and is good for 5 years. The time for renewal of permits starts on the 2nd of Jan. 2015 for those of you due. It is on a first come first serve basis. Usually renewals get processed before new permit applications. If you have a renewal application in the system and you permit runs out before you receive the new one, you are still covered. But remember it has to be in the system. If your permit runs out and you don't have the paper work in the system and get caught with an expired permit, you are screwed. Don't let this happen to you.

When you turn in your renewal application do you need the 2 reference questionnaires filled out by 2 unrelated witnesses living in your county? I know you need 2 passport pictures but not another fingerprinting....  I might be thinking of 2 references for a Pennsylvania application. I found and read the renewal process. No references needed.

Has anyone had luck with mailing in their renewal? For my previous renewals, I've dropped it off. Is the lack of a receipt the only downside?
Cheers

This is what is required, as per the Superior Court website:

(B) The statutory filing fee of $65.00. (Renewal period is for 5 years) Cash, money order, or personal check. Made payable the  "Prothonotary".

(C) renewal application in original and 1 copy of all documents, can be hand delivered or mailed to the Prothonotary's office in your county on or after Jan. 2, 2015.

When I did my renewal I had the original and TWO copies.  I had to file the original and one copy.
The 2nd copy I asked the lady to time stamp AND attach the receipt to it.  I was going to keep
this as my proof I renewed before it expired and they did not issue my new one before 1 June.
