CCDW permits for ages 18-21
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:55:37 AM »
My daughter has seen her parents CC for most her life. She wants to also. She is only 19. I have heard stories of people getting permits under the age of 21. Is it true or will she have to wait until she is 21?

The "LAW" states:

§ 1441. License to carry concealed deadly weapons.  http://delcode.delaware.gov/title11/c005/sc07/index.shtml#1441

(a) A person of full age and good moral character desiring to be licensed to carry a concealed deadly weapon for personal protection or the protection of the person's property may be licensed to do so when the following conditions have been strictly complied with:

Now the definition of "person of full age":  http://delcode.delaware.gov/title1/c007/index.shtml
§ 701. Age of majority.

A person of the age of 18 years or older on June 16, 1972, and any person who attains the age of 18 years thereafter, shall be deemed to be of full legal age for all purposes whatsoever and shall have the same duties, liabilities, responsibilities, rights and legal capacity as persons heretofore acquired at 21 years of age unless otherwise provided.

1 Del. C. 1953, § 701; 58 Del. Laws, c. 439, § 1.;

So, she "should" be able to get it.  If they deny her, I think she could fight it. Keep us informed please on her progress.  I know a young man on DELOC he looked about 14.  He had his.  I believe he was < 21.

IANAL

My instructor at first state firearms training told us his son got his at 18. I have heard of others as well.
