So I picked up 7 new guns as partial payment for a job. 3 .22 rifles, 3 antique rifles and an Italian semi auto pistol. The pistol is a Bernardelli, 7.65, in good shape but was very dirty. .22(2 Remingtons and a Mossberg, also dirty, some rust. The prize, are the antiques. An 1884 Springfield trapdoor carbine in 45-70, an 1868 Springfield trapdoor in 50-70, and an 1864-1874 Remington rolling block in .43 Spanish. Took 5 to Elk Neck last week after cleaning and tweaking all. The .22's shoot well, but the best is the cheapest Remington. The pistol jams up after <12 rounds, slide very hard at end travel. I think I found that problem. It has a shock absorber at the slide end travel that I did not disassemble and clean before. Was DIRTY.
No ammo for the 50 or the rolling block. The carbine kicks worse than a mule. I have been kicked by a horse and don't remember it hurting that much. Old brass/loads of unknown pressure. Second shot only half the brass came out, end of the day for that. It is however, fairly accurate. Open OLD sights at 50 yds was high and right about 2". Everything on this gun has been apart and thoroughly cleaned, including the sight. Now have some new cowboy loads to try, but need a THICK shoulder pad.
Fun day w/BIL who had his 1873 Winchester , 98 Mauser, and P38.
First trip to Elk Neck, on a friday, was very busy. Not all retirees.

I was looking for a cheap .22lr rifle. Got any idea of the age of the .22's and a price?

I have 4 inexpensive work hourse types, 3 Remington 510/511 types and a Mossberg 146B. Two are clip fed, two are tubular mag. From what I found on the web, the highest is about $250. They shoot nice, use cheap ammo, great for kids to learn on, or just plinking.
