springfield xds

Thinking about buying the Springfield xds.  Does anyone have any experience or opinions.  Also considering a 3 inch 1911.

I've seen and shot one.  Guy at DSPC has one and let me shoot it.  It's on my short list too.

It fit my hand so well I had to buy it.  Shot it Saturday and it shot great.  Recoil was very manageable.  I shot it side by side with my 229 in 40 and recoil was very similar.  Accuracy was great. I do like the 5 round mags better than the 7.  I will probably carry 5+1 in the gun and 7 in reserve.  So far I has far exceeded my expectations.

I made the call today for one too. Looking at the all black VS bi-tone.  Did not reserve it yet.

I only saw the all black but from the pictures I have seen the bitone looks cool.  Xring had just received a shipment of xds mags.  I have been trying to find extensions for the 5 round mags.  I really hope someone starts making 6 round mags.  The 7 rounders are a little long.  They make a good backup or 3 season option.

Just took a look at the xds.  Wow!  Is .45 cal the only option?

They should have 9mm and 40 out soon.  The box says 45, 9 and 40 .  I am not sure what the advantage would be.  Recoil is very manageable.  A few extra rounds vs a lot of stopping power?  I have been looking at the 3.8 inch xdm in 45.  It is bigger but uses double stack mags.  7 and 9 rds I think.  Hopefully someone will talk me into or out of it.

OK, I had to go over to X-Ring to take a look. Very nice. As soon as the .40 comes out, I'm getting one!
