Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2013

<< < (2/2)

ESPMan:
"We don't know what we're doing so, uh, yeah" act

seniorgeek:
I just sent email to Carper, Coons, and Carey to let them know what I think about of H.R. 3018.

--text below with kudos to Hawkeye--

"Representative Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.) and Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) are sponsoring legislation which amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to include a 20 percent tax on handguns--"pistols [and] revolvers"--as well as a 50 percent tax on "shells and cartridges."
The bill is H.R. 3018 and it is titled the "Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2013."

“Gun Violence and Safe Communities Act of 2013?  Really? I mean seriously, how can they claim that making guns harder to get makes anyone safe when it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that more guns in the hands of lawful citizens make people safer and saves lives?

Demographics show that poor communities suffer the most from violence and gun crimes and this act will make it even harder for those that need protection most to be able to afford firearms and ammunitions for protection.

When you look where these politicians are from, Illinois and New Jersey, maybe you can see why they feel this way.  Chicago has long been the title holder for the murder capital of the United States and Trenton just set a homicide record of their own so yeah, these are the politicians we want setting national policy.

PLEASE do not vote for this bill.

----
I know it won't do any good but I least they have my opinion and that is what it is all about. Letting them know what you believe and that I do vote.

ESPMan:
Seems like they want a second Civil War, doesn't it?

groundgrid:
Was putting together a new crossbow while HBO was on in the background, this pretty much sums it up:

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!...

...Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!!

from "Les Miserables"

What puzzles me most is that none of these politicians, no matter how well educated they claim to be,
are at all cognizant of history and what happens as governments become increasingly more oppressive.

Maybe they should watch the movie.

"How well educated they claim to be" is exactly why they think they can pull this off.  I believe they have to arrogance to believe that the reason socialism has failed in the past but they can succeed is that they are so much smarter than those who have tried to impose in the past.  From the Dalibama on down this has got to be the most arrogant administration in history.
