Just emailed this question to my senator:
What is the cost impact of destroying recovered firearms rather than selling them through an FFL?  In an era of financial shortage, is DE wasting money by amending via SB 19?
Compare cost of destruction vs. selling through FFL minus the time required to conduct sale.
Just a smelly deplorable dreg of society clinging to God and guns.

https://www.nraila.org/articles/20160122/delaware-legislation-that-would-prevent-the-auction-of-firearms-by-law-enforcement-to-be-considered-next-week

Everyone please get to your Senator asking then to oppose this bill.  Even those who don't believe in the Second Amendment and the Constitution.

Senate Bill 19 - Another Cynical Boondoggle

Now On Senate the Agenda for Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Just when you thought you had seen it all, along comes Senator Marshall's latest cynical attempt to use your hard-earned tax dollars to "buy" votes from Wilmington's anti-gun elites in his bid to become Wilmington's next mayor - SB 19 - another warm & fuzzy "buy-back" program that's even less logical than the one before.

SB 19 would spend money the State doesn't have on a project that has been a proven failure every time and everywhere it has been tried - even the police and Wilmington's anti-gunners know that so-called "buy-backs" don't work... but, here we go again.

Let's face it, Wilmington's violent "gang bangers", drug enforcers, hugger muggers and armed robbers aren't about to sell their stolen guns to the cops for a measly few bucks.... That's just not going to happen - and everyone knows it.......including Senator Marshall.

Here's what SB 19 does:

It allows the State to permit law enforcement officers to use your tax dollars to buy guns that have absolutely NO relationship to any crime, have NO evidentiary value in court and that pose NO danger to anyone with state-wide tax money that could and should be used for real crime fighting in Wilmington, Dover, Newark, Georgetown and elsewhere.
Under the current law, the police are allowed to recover their ivestment and save the taxpayer's money by selling/auctioning such guns to Federally licensed dealers (assuming they are not junk to begin with) - but SB 19 would ban that practice and bars law enforcement agencies from recovering the value of their investment - in other words, it's just another in a long line of politically motivated, government sponsored financial boondoggles - at taxpayer expense.
SB 19 amends the current law which was to be a "pilot program" and which was such a huge failure, and was over budget by 150% ($250,000) and makes it a permanent program... where's the money coming from?  Why are we wasting more money on another proven failure?
And to make things even worse, SB 19 retains the provision under the "pilot program" which gives total immunity from prosecution to anyone selling a gun to the police under this program.... Which means that Wilmington's violent "gang-bangers" can use a stolen gun to commit a murder and then sell it to the police for a profit with total anonymity and without fear of a "gun prosecution" - will the insanity never cease?.
The only plausible explanation for SB 19 is Senator Marshall's desire o convince the people of the City of Wilmington that he is actually "doing something" about the violent conditions in "Murder City" so that he can be their next mayor - cynical, but true.

The full text of SB 19 may be read here

CALL TO ACTION

Call your Senator today - politely and respectfully ask them to oppose SB 19.

Tell them that SB19 is both bad politics and bad policy
Tell them that so-called "gun buy-back" projects such as SB 19 are proven failures and should be abandoned, not encouraged
Tell them that the original "Community Firearm Recovery Program" was a total and complete failure, did nothing to reduce crime, and was a complete waste of taxpayer money, and that SB 19 is even worse.
Tell them to vote "NO" on SB 19.

Senate Democrats may be contacted as follows:

Wilmington - 577-8744; Dover - 744-4286; Georgetown - 856-5108

On Legis.delaware.gov, SB 19 doesn't show up on the Daily Activity Report for 1/27 even though it was scheduled. However, this line is at the bottom of the Senate Agenda.
Note : PLEASE NOTE: Tuesday, March 8, 2016 - SB 19 - Sen. Marshall

UPDATE: NRA-ILA just reported that SB 19 has been Tabled until Mar 8

Well my rep is Karen Peterson. Wanna guess how she'll vote?
I say she wants all guns destroyed but I will get back to you. I think her phone is ringing off the hook! Having trouble getting through. To be fair, she will talk to you and she will listen.
