Title: Finally received my permit!
Post by: JonathanG on July 22, 2015, 10:44:45 PM
Hello all, I'm Jonathan and I live in Kent County. I dropped my packet, and my wife's packet, off at the Kent County Prothonotary Office on March 2nd. I received my permit today. It took a 142 days. I was starting to get a bit nervous because, my wife received her permit on June 2nd, exactly at the 3 month time frame the Prothonotary clerk told me to expect when I  took the applications in. As it turns out, mine just took longer than my wife's! Anyway, it felt pretty good to finally be able to carry today. I am pleased to be, as of today, not only a member of the forum, but, an official card carrying member of the forum!

Glad to hear you got your permit. I think there may be a renewed rush for permits now. Kent and Sussex counties used to approve or disapprove much faster.
I know The Guide put all the annoucements they publish together under the "Legal Notices" section. They have averaged 10-12 a week since January.

Could the slow down be because of Matt Denn (former liberal Democrat LT. Gov.) now being the Attorney General of Delaware?

If so, that will be taken care of under Governor Lafferty.

Congradulations to you and the missus. Stay safe.  My wife and I applied the same day and mine took 9 weeks. Hers took 14 in 2013.  Go figure.  New Castle County.

Congrats and now you can be safe. I am a member of www.ccwsafe.com and I suggest you check out this ccw insurance. This outfit was started by former law enforcement and IMHO a very reputable company. Also there is a great book by Massad Ayoob, Deadly Force, Understanding Your Right To Self Defense. This book covers it all for anyone carrying or just defending the home. I have been carrying for just over 50yrs. I read this book a few months ago and it was a very good review. Again congrats.

I too belong to CCWSafe and have for the last 2 years. They guarantee to send legal counsel anytime you are involved in an incident. I hope never to have to call them, but for $99.00 per year, I sleep a whole lot better.

Only thing that sucks it they only give the military package if you have either served 20 years or are medically discharged in the armed services I guess the rest of us that served are not worthy to them.

I like the idea of CCW legal defense insurance... but we would need to use our own attorney, not theirs.
Joe's the guy we want if the guns get fired...

How much does it cost to keep Joe on retainer?
