Some might not agree with me but we need a version of a National Carry bill so that citizens do not get caught up their rights changing just because they crossed an imaginary line. Having said that, in the meantime everybody needs to be proactive in understanding the laws of different jurisdictions they go through.

That's why I don't go to NJ if I don't have to.

Bill introduced to grant discretion in gun cases

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A Republican lawmaker says he has introduced a bill that would give discretion to New Jersey judges dealing with out-of-state gun owners.

Assemblyman Ronald Dancer introduced "Shaneen's Law" in response to the case of Shaneen Allen. The Pennsylvania mother faces charges for carrying a gun in New Jersey. She is legally allowed to carry the gun in Pennsylvania.

Dancer says current laws impose a minimum three-and-a-half-year sentence on out-of-state residents violating New Jersey's gun laws. He says it's unreasonable for people to know the gun laws in each state.

Dancer says the proposed bill would give judges discretion when dealing with out-of-state residents if they don't have a criminal record, aren't associated with street gangs and are in compliance with their home state's gun laws.

Allen was charged last October following a traffic stop on the Atlantic City Expressway.

Not good enough!  Need to make sure these cases can be dismissed without a finding of guilt.  PRe trial intervention needs to apply to these cases.

This looks like they would still get a conviction but avoid jail or get a lesser sentence.

Not good enough!

I agree but you have to think like NJ....a little at a time. That's how they erode gun rights.

More review sought in N.J. gun case

Following extensive criticism over denying a Philadelphia woman a chance to avoid a prison sentence for illegally bringing her registered gun into New Jersey last year, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has asked a Superior Court judge for more time to review the case.

Very glad jail isn't on the books for her now. Still, I wonder what her record will show?
