New To Delaware and New Castle
« on: January 07, 2016, 11:42:46 PM »
Hello everyone, I moved here a year ago from Pa. I have a Concealed Carry Permit from Philadelphia which expires in 2017 and want to get my Delaware CCP. I travel back and forth to Philly.

Any recommendations on going through this process would be greatly appreciated especially if you can make any suggestions on an approved course and where to take it. Do they accept a DD214 for this?

Cheers Vincent

Welcome.

Unfortunately, they will not accept your 214 for the training.

We offer the course.  It's $200.  Start @ 9AM will finish 7-8PM.  One day.
Beverages available throughout the day.  Lunch (pizza) provided.  If you want
the photos and AZ prints / application that's an additional $25.  Courses offered
on Sundays.  Held in Middletown.  PM me your number if you are interested
and I will text you back my partners info.

What you can start now is gathering your references.  Look at the instructions
for the app and see what paper you need to use.  (Or PM me your zip code)
Run the ad.  If you are close to taking the course, you could make the appointment
for finger printing @ Troop 2.  Or, SBI Dover will accept walk-ins.  You must wait
10 days after your ad has run before submitting the app.  App MUST be submitted
BEFORE 45 days after finger printing or you will have to do it again.  Certificate of
completing the course does not have to be filed with the app, but my opinion it
makes it go a little faster.  App without the certificate you'll receive a letter stating
it's approved and you have 90 days from the date of the letter to turn it in or you will
be automatically declined.

Then comes the fun part, the WAITING!!!  6 months of waiting.

Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Welcome, Odo! Just in case,, here's the link: http://courts.delaware.gov/superior/weapons.stm
Question: is your driver's license from DE?  If so, is your PA LTCF still valid?
Radnor is right on with the process; start turning the crank. It is worth the effort.
Just a smelly deplorable dreg of society clinging to God and guns.
