Found this forum last night and I thought that I would join. I live in Kent County and I filed 8/17/16. I took my class at Marino Tactical. I am looking forward to learning a lot as I read and participate on the forum.
Thanks.
Mike

Welcome aboard !
A lot of knowledge in here so don't be afraid to ask a question.

Welcome Bogey!

Sounds like the wait times are much longer than the 4-6 weeks that the application says.
-
Welcome. You will learn just how patient you can be during this wait.

Welcome to the site!
Kent County is very efficient. Shouldn't be too long. If you do experience a longer wait it is, believe it or not, good news for all of us. The influx of new applicants is surely overwhelming for the courts. Yet the staff at the Prothonatary's Office is still welcoming, helpful and polite. The AG and the Judges have a policy of clearing the backlog by the end of every month. As I said before, I am proud of Kent County for many reasons.

Welcome Bogey!
Welcome! The wait is most definitely longer than 4-6 weeks. I'm approaching month 4. Goodluck!

I am not concerned about the wait. Still have not even bought my first gun as I have been trying to do some research. Looking forward to the reading and learning.

What firearms experience do you have? If none, I would suggest taking some more courses

Hey Bogey, I've been shooting my whole life. I was born with a Red Rider in my hands. Please consider this: Stay within your budget and think about what you like, not what somebody tells you. You will love your first sidearm but it won't be your last. I'm up to thinking about number 6!

In addition to online research see about hitting up a range and renting a few handguns to try out. See if anyone wants to meet you and perhaps allow you to fire 1 or 2 they may have. Also, I try to strike up a conversation with other shooters now and then at the range. In doing so I've been able to try out dozens of different handgun and rifles by switching lanes with shooters.
Welcome :)

Welcome aboard. i always talk to people at the range. nice to get other perspectives

Hmmm. That's interesting. I'm on month four.
I hope they catch up soon.
I'm sick of unloading and locking everything to go to the range.

Same here. Kent and waiting 5.5 months.

Amen to that. Where does 6 fit into the equation of 1 is none and 2 is one? 7, 12? Yes to both? Saw recently somewhere" if you know how many guns you have, you don't have enough".
-
That may be true, if you've got plenty of money, but for most one or a few are plenty. You can only shoot one at a time and be accurate. I have a pistol, several shot guns, and a rifle. I use them all. That will pretty much cover any situation.

i have two hand guns, my wife has three. she and i both want at least one more each. we also have a shot gun in the house
