My thoughts on the legislation.

I am aware there are some who might go as far as being ok with registration as long as we keep our freedom to own guns. I personally am totally against that. I am also against the reporting of a lost or stolen gun. While it sounds good and like it makes sense to report a lost or stolen gun think on these two very important things.

1, The people who push for gun control are often the people who you give an inch they push a mile. I will not give examples because many involve controversial social issues, but I am sure you get the idea. This will just lead to more gun control measures and more and more pushing until the man gets pushed back by patriots.

2, While it sounds good there is also this to think about. Lets say you have your house and vault broken into ( it can happen). SO you report your gun stolen like you are supposed to do. OK great. Now I am sure there is no one that can at least not see it possible that the loss or theft of a gun could cause someone to be denied a carry permit in the future. Bascially it would go down where the powers that be in Delaware would say "If you are not responsible with your guns then you are not responsible enough to carry them". That is the danger and why I have serious issues with mandatory reporting.

Do they make citizens report anything else that is stolen or lost?

My prints are on file in DBs everywhere.. For legitimate reasons. If someone were to gain access and steal 1 or more of my firearms its simply a wait until the Leo's show up after one is used in a crime.. Which you know will happen. I'd rather have it recorded at the time of theft to clear me in the future.

I'm 100% against registration. I'm a Canadian and fully understand what that leads to. It's happened here and it lead to confiscation. The registry is not defunct but it took the Canadian government 20 years and way too many taxpayers dollars to realize it didn't stop or slow down crime.

I'm also 100% against legislating everything under the sun. I believe it's one of the biggest problems today is that there is a law or a rule or some type of barrier for everything. You can't legislate stupidity and you can't legislate common sense and you can't legislate crime away. Stu-pid people are still stu-pid, people without common sense are still without and crime will continue.. Regardless of the legislation.

The responsibility issue for a permit or whatever later I can't see. I broke no laws, I volunteered reporting the theft, and they'd have been stolen from a locked house from a locked safe.

Actually there are a number of dangerous goods that are regulated, and for good cause, that require reporting if stolen. I know we like to say a 'gun doesn't kill' however it is a dangerous item.

I see your point but I'd still make the report. I'd also be ticked and file a report on any officer who treated or made me feel like a criminal for doing so. I understand its a personal choice, for now, and it should remain so!

I received a reply from Senator Pat Blevins today to a lettwer I sent stating my objections to any further gun ban laws that are being proposed in Delaware. She acted like she was oblivious to any legislation pending. Has she been sleeping. I received a copy of the proposed bill on "Reporting lost/stolen firearms within 48 hours", and have the PDF version saved on my computer. I received it several days ago. I guess she in not privy to that info. After all, she is only the Senate Pro Tempore. Why would she know what was going on just becausel she is signed on as one of the sponsors.

I'm new to this site and find it very informative. Thank you all!

I was wondering if these liberal lefties would be willing to give up their 1st amendment rights. Do they realize it will be in jeopardy next? Just thinking.

Actually some of them are in favor of limiting the first amendment as it replies to anything deemed not to be politically correct.

I'd be in trouble as I don't give a rats hiney about "Political Correctness". It is a surpression of free speech in my book. I say, tell it like it is, not as you think someone would like to hear it. I come from a long line of people the said what they mean ans mean what they say.

Your senator is not alone in her behavior. A friend of mine was elected a representative, he studied the laws he had to vote on, for two days. When the first one came up for vote, nearly half the reps were asleep. He woke up the the one seated next to him, and told him a law was up for vote, the man replied " is it ours or theirs". He did not care what bill, or what was in it, nor did he have a clue what was in any of the bills they voted on that day.  Only which party introduced the bill.

The Fienstein Bill was suppose to be brought up for discussion in committee today (2/27). No further word at this time.

Update on todays Feinstein Bill Senate hearing:

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/02/27/fact-check-sen-feinstein-claims-u-s-has-witnessed-an-increased-number-of-mass-shootings-during-gun-control-hearing/

I had read from more than one source that Feinstein really loaded the witnesses with the anti-gun foes and people who have been victims of gun violence. I feel for people like that dad that lost his daughter ( or son), but because of a madman I dont see them being able to say I or we should not be able to own ar-15 rifles.

Feinstein said, "the people at Sandy Hook, Aroura, and Colimbine, all had one thing in common. They were killed with a semi-automatic gun with a high volume magazine". That is incorrect or decietful at best. The one thing they all had in common was they were all committed by young mentally ill males. The same thing with the shooting in the King Street NCC Court House. Mentally ill.

Wait a minute, I think I see a pattern here...........Duh, ya' think?

People say mentally ill alot in this. I think there should be a stronger word like deranged. There are many people who have mental illness from some axiety to a slight depression. I know our gov is foaming at the mouth to limit their gun rights and I dont agree with that one bit. IF someone is so dangerous and mentally ill not to own a gun they should be decided with due process.

I know rape victims and many decided to buy firearms after their attacks. I am sure some went through depressions. I would be concerned if our government would say they should not be able to own guns.

Just my thoughts. I am not totally disagreeing.

silverbullet has a very serious point here.  Genetics are not on my side when it comes to treatable disorders.  I feel pain for those that suffer from these benign issues.  At the same time I understand the stigma attached.  Government can make whatever they want out of it.  Due process is just as important here as anywhere else.

Last Sunday I attended the Protest Rally in Dover with the 9/12 Project. About 100 people  were there with signs and Gadsen Flags. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the number of cars passing us by that were honking horns, thumbs-up with smiles and showing support. Only one woman in the passenger seat of a car, drove by giving us all the "single-digit-salute". At least she was the only one that I could clearly see that was being obviously hostile towards us. While this is somewhat encouraging, I still fear that we will have a large fight on our hands at both the State and the Federal levels for sometime to come. To be honest, I don't think this is a battle that we will win completely, if at all. There are too many emboldened State-ists, Socialists and other outright Bullies who hate us and our liberty, both in our State and region of the country.  They somehow believe that when the final death-blow is dealt to us that they will be at the top and in control to benefit from the tyranny. The history of Communism and other forms of tyranny does not bear this out. History proves that eventually they too will be subjugated along with you and I. Knowing that my enemy will share my misery brings me little solace. I know that I have a moral and ethical duty to continue to write the letters, persuade with logic in a peaceful manner; all of which I have done and will continue to do, but truthfully, it falls upon deaf ears when the agenda is tyranny. The best that we can hope for is to slow them down and challenge the State-ists at their own game - the court.

[The guiding principle of good government is that the Individual is more important than the State. A Civil Society cannot be had in any other manner. ]
