The exact quote: "...seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced." It's not exactly news: it's a month old, from the second debate.

As a liberal, I've been waiting four years for Obama to get anything I care about "introduced," and I've about given up.
Obama knew that was a non-starter, and that's why he phrased it that way: there isn't a single Democrat in the old or new Congress dumb enough to attach his or her name to AWB Junior...

Even Markos Moulitsas, founder of the "Great Orange Satan (http://www.dailykos.com)," considers gun control a dead issue and poison for Democrats.

You are right, it looks like I jumped the gun. I missed the date of the article.
