New Member From Newark
« on: February 12, 2013, 04:27:48 PM »
Hey all, I'm John.  I'm a transplant from Harford County, MD and I'm looking to get my DE CCW so I can obtain a UT CCW.  I'm a member of MDShooters and DE Open Carry forums who found this one while researching the process by which to obtain a DE permit.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the requirement to publish my name and personal information in a news paper for the world to see.  I wonder if anyone has managed to figure out a way around that?  It strikes me as an unfair burden to put my home and family at risk, and I'm sure someone in DE has already contacted SAF or the NRA, seeing as Ms. Broome isn't very helpful on the matter.  Anyway, hi!  I'm sure y'all will be seeing me around a fair bit.

Delaware Code requires all DECCW applicants to run an ad in an approved news media in their county stating they are applying for a concealed carry permit. It must appear 10 days before you can submit your application at the Prothonatary Office. You must submit proof from the news media(they will furnish proof) that it was published, not just ther copy of the ad. It's the law in Delaware.

Is there any code or regulation stating a required font size or color?

If you call The Guide, they have a standard form and will fill in the blanks for you. All you have to do is call.

Scrovak,
I believe you said you live in NCC, so you will have to use and NCC news paper. It has to be in the county you live in.

I found out that the only newspaper in NCC that meets the circulation requirement is the Wilmington News Journal. I called several and was told that they could not do the add.

That's interesting. Plenty of people in the past have used the Newark Post and Middletown Transcript.

The paper that you can use goes by your zip code. Example: mine is 19709 I used the Middletown Transcript. Some where on here there was a thread that lists the zips and what papers you can use. If I can find it or if someone can find it we wil give the reference.

The Newark Post may cover Middletown.  Call Joan Akins at 443-245-5074.  I think she is the legal rep for the Newark Post. She can handle your ad process when you fill out the form that she will email to you.  $42 and about a week later, she will mail to you the cert that DECCW app requires.
Just a smelly deplorable dreg of society clinging to God and guns.

Thanks for the great info folks, it's much appreciated.  In about 3 weeks I'll commit to the process financially.  If I take my course prior to the application, does it still count?  Or do I have exactly a 90 day window to complete the required course?

You can take the course prior to submitting the paperwork, you just submit copy's of the course certificate with the rest of the paper work.

Thats what my wife and I did.
