Wait is finally over.... just received a letter from the prothonotary..... inside is a spankin new unrestricted permit! No references were contacted......no letter from the Ag's office...... turned my application in January 13th 2011..... pretty fast turnaround time for Kent county...... now to order my supertuck and hit the range a few times before I go out in public armed for the first time....
Edit- permit good for 3 years, heard somewhere it was 5 years now....
-
Initial permits are 3 years, up from 2... renewals are 5, up from 3.

Thanks! It's a big responsibility. But I am happy to have gone through the process..,.

Congrats!

I'm so jealous. I had to call the Prothonotary Office today and see what's up, and was told I should receive the permit anytime now. Congrats!

I know the feeling, I called 2 weeks ago and she said it would be another week or 2... She was right on. I hate waiting for anything, thankfully it wasn't 6-7 months like some were saying it was gonna be. :o

Congrats!

awesome! congrats!!!

Congrats, Colt.
FYI, it is that long if you are a new applicant in New Castle County.

Thanks Moosie! I guess thats one advantage to living in lower..slower... Lol...

So is New Castle County slower than Kent Co? OR do you think it be the same wait time?
I applied on Jan 25th. This Friday will be 2 months for me.
-
NCCo is definitely slower than Kent.

All counties send their paperwork to ncc. Thats where the only investigators are that work on the ccdw permits . They also do other things ,and work on ccdw permits when they have time. I think it has alot to do with work load as to how long the turn around time is. At least this is what I was told by an investigator.

I called to check the status of my application last week (week 12)
and they told me that it is in the AG's office still under investigation.
I don't know if that is a good thing or not.
The suspense is killing me! Any advice? should I go ahead and order
a supertuck?
-
Congrats! Called last week to check on my renewal and was told that no renewals had gone out yet but the goal was to have them out by the end of May. Seems New Castle is much slower than the rest.

When I called to check on my status... they told me the same thing... I think that's the standard response if the prothonotary doesn't have it in their possession.... what county did you turn your app into?

I applied at New Castle County. Hope I hear something soon!

One of the officers who work for DOJ who does the background checks is a member of my gun club. He is one of just 3 officers who do all of the background checks for permits among other duties. He said they do an average of 2000 checks a month which includes checks for things other than CCW permits. So a lot of the wait time depends on their workload.

i just got mine on saturday 4/16/2010. I am so excited ;D
Now i am going for Pa. so i can visit my family without problems. :o
-
Pete When did you apply? And are you in NCC?
-
Also, Pete, I'm thinking this was a new permit? or was it a renewal? Please let us know.
Thanks!
-
Since Pete doesn't have PA, it must be an initial license, not a renewal.

Thats what I assumed too, Lumspond. However, I've learned my lesson on assuming LOL.
