Advertising that you are CC'ing?
« on: June 18, 2013, 06:49:50 PM »
Seen a guy 2 weekends ago in a bar, wearing a t shirt saying something about his 2nd amendment rights (can't remember exact phrase).  His shirt was also riding up so you could clearly see he was CC at 3 o'clock with half his OWB holster sticking out of the bottom of his shirt and the pistol grip clearly "Printing".  Just my Opinion, but why would you CC and then advertise like that?  The advantage to CC'ing is the element of surprise, is it not?  BTW, I did notice he was only drinking soda, Kudos for that!!!

I wear a t-shirt that says on the back of it, "Shove your gun control up your ... and then there's a picture of the democratic donkey".  I wear it while I'm cc'ing. I prefer not to print or let anyone know that i'm carrying.

I dont see anything wrong with wearing pro-2nd amendment shirts. Many people wear them and don't carry. As for the jerk letting his gun show.. well, that's just not my thing. Sounds like he was a show off.

I think the guy was just trying to be intimidating or acting like a tough guy. He wanted to be noticed. Some people are just that way. Not the smartest tool in the pouch.

I wear mine in a Safepacker at 4:00. People just seem to assume it's some kind of [old] man-purse. I've only had two people look at it and immediately make it as a gun... one of them was pretty startled, and clearly thought about shooting me, but that's not bad for seven years.
No gun-related logos on my clothes, or car, or anywhere.

I see people print all the time.  Most people don't even register that it is a gun.

I try to be very careful about what I wear so as not to reveal anything. Occasionally I wear a fanny pack because what I am wearing will not cover.
To each their own but this is called "concealed carry".

When's the last time you saw a guy wearing a Harley shirt and wasn't on a Harley or you know he doesn't even own one?  Same thing.  Just because you see someone wearing a pro-2A shirt, doesn't mean the person has a concealed carry.  Most of the general public is under the impression that you have to have high level connections to get a concealed carry permit. These are usually the folks who don't own a gun or own one that they've never fired that's was their great grand daddy's that they keep in the back of the hall closet.

To each their own. I'll continue to wear my pro-2A shirt and carry concealed. It's not like I wear it everyday.

"Clearly thought about shooting me" is very startling. What was that about OldGrayGeek?

There was a guy in the Acme, looked like some kind of Fed or detective, carrying a Sig Sauer IWB but not concealed in a dress shirt & tie and slacks. I went over to pick up something off the shelf right next to him. He looked at me, immediately focused on the Safepacker, and backed away a few steps with a startled expression on his face.
I stood very still, looked him in the eyes, and said calmly, "Yes, that is what you think it is. I have a permit for it, and you are welcome to see it." He calmed down. I complimented him on his powers of observation, pointing out that he was only the second person to correctly identify the pouch in six years. He mumbled some sort of apology and left.

I have no problem with someone wearing a 2A shirt, I was just kind of shocked that we would basically let it all hang out, so to speak.  I was carrying all weekend in the same bar (no alcohol for me) and nobody noticed.  Or at least if someone did, nobody said anything.  I run a business where I had a lot of cash on me that weekend and had to be in a bar. Had quite a few people give me a hug, brush up against it and not even give a weird look, probably thought was a cell phone or something.

I would rather see someone open carry then carry in the manner of the guy you described.  He didn't happen to be displaying a CCW badge did he?

I'm with ya, Denmark04.  Letting it all hang out doesn't seem to make any sense to me either.  I'm not a fan of open carry, but I have my own reasons for that.

Ok, so inquiring minds want to know... you carry large amounts of cash, no alcohol, but you spent all weekend in a bar.  You're the guy who sits inside the ATM and spits our money out, aren't you?!  LOL

@ Moosie - LOL.  I wish.......  I own a pool league franchise.  The last 2 weekends we had our State Championship tournaments.  We paid out in cash.  There may even be some players in the league that are members here, who knows.

I dont really worry about printing as much, but I am still getting used to concealling. its great when I dont, but I still believe in deterring crime is possible.
