Hello all!
I am in the process of applying for my CCW.
I had a DUI in 2002 in Virgina and also got a DUI in 2005.
Lost my license, and had to take the DUI classes, got my license back
and have been clean ever since.
SO, it is know 6 years since my last offense.
Do you think that this will prevent me from getting my permit now?
I recently purchased a handgun and had no problems there with
the background check.
any advice?

I really don't know, I would call the AG's Office and ask them. Just explain the situation and see what they say.

Ok, Thank you for the advice! :)

I have heard anecdotal evidence that a history of DUI presents a problem getting a Delaware CCDW permit.

I've heard the same thing, OldGray. I know someone who was denied due to too many speeding tickets.
Please keep us posted as to what you hear, Animal.

Based upon what I heard in my firearms training class, it depends. There was apparently one guy who had a DUI and was brought before the judge to speak his case. The judge asked him why he should believe that there would be no more issues. The man replied by saying that there will be no more DUI's because he hasn't had a drink since his DUI. Sounds like it's a case by case basis.
Good luck!!!

I will give a go, and see what happens.
I haven't had any more incidences, because I do not drink any more either.
that was a bad party of my life, and is now over.
I am getting married this year to a wonderful woman and I can't be happier.

Off the subject slightly.....I've also heard an aggressive driving ticket may get you denied, or cause you to lose your CCDW. Congrats on sobriety, marriage, and hopefully the carry permit!
