Title: Impressions from the polls
Post by: groundgrid on November 04, 2014, 12:50:24 PM
Counting yourself & your like minded family & friends, how many people do you know that voted today?

How was voter turnout & can you gather any intel from who was there? (eg. a bunch still had Obama pins because they wore the same shirt 2 years ago)

I just voted. Difficult to gauge the sway of the crowd. All of my coworkers were voting, although they are a mix of left and right. When she asked for my ID, I stated I didn't have one. She told me I'd have to sign an affidavit verifying I was who I state, at which point I pulled out my Delaware license. Should have followed through. Got me thinking though. In order to vote, you need to register to vote at the DMV, correct? (Been a long time). How do you register at the DMV without ID? Affidavit as well?

Voted at Glasgow polling place at about 1:45.  No line. Three of us voted straight R. John Marino, who us running against the sign-stealer's spouse in State Senate 10, drove up while we were leaving.  I asked if he was going to send his opponent's husband a thank-you note but he said the election was too close to call. Oddly, we didn't see any Kevin Wade signs.

Due to the fact I'm pretty slow in the mornings, I didn't go to the polls until after I was done work. I even left work a little early to do a few other things.

I was deeply upset that my state representative who is up for re-election was not at my polling location. She normally has been the past few elections... Maybe because I came later in the day is why she wasn't there. For this mid-term and the past primary, she had her lackeys handing out some small piece of paper to all of the voters. As I did before, I walked by with my hand up and said "No thank you".

It would have been pointless to tell her lackeys to tell her that I wanted to send my thanks for infringing on my Second Amendment rights granted to us by the US Constitution... I didn't think they would deliver it. It just doesn't work if the state rep isn't there.

Hopefully she'll be given the boot... Hopefully...

Other than that, my polling place was a quick in & out.

Just voted at the church on Porter Road. Five minute process. Carried concealed, just like I do at every election.

Are you talking about Kim Williams Pixel? If so she was outside this morning. She tried to talk to me and I just keep walking.

They said the best time to go to the poles is between 10 AM and 4 PM to avoid the crowd. Being retired, I did just that. I parked in a 15 min. parking spot, went in voted and came back out with 5 mins. to spare.
Voted at Lake Forest East.

Pulled a straight R tix.

For my rep there was Mitchell unopposed.
Even though I knew he would win, could NOT put the
X next to his name as he was the one who introduced
the magazine ban.

And yet l see no listing for a used wife in the classified.  ;D

Lol j/king there Just Bill. We all have our views and right or wrong the world would be down right boring of we didn't. Lord knows the wife and I are pretty much opposites of everything.. Except for our political views! :)

Most folk I know admitted they were simply too busy to vote or mumbled they didn't have a good choice. I found you could almost tell who voted for which "side" simply by how forthcoming they were in the conversation.

We have separate TV rooms, one for FOX and one the the other crap.  She used to middle or middle right, then she met a Pastor that was sexually challenged and made a large shift left.
