Best casual dress CCW method
« on: December 17, 2013, 01:25:22 PM »
Thought I would pick everyone's brains.  What have you found to be the best CCW method when you just want to be dressed casually or comfortably.  I haven't found a great solution for when I want to wear sweatpants, track pants, basketball shorts, etc.  Most reliable / secure things I've seen require a sturdy belt.

I think that really depends on what your carrying.  I wouldn't think of carrying mine without my belt just too heavy, then again it is a full frame XDm 3.8 carrying 17 rounds of 40 kinda makes it heavy.  If you have something like an LCP I'd imagine it would be a bit easier to pocket carry with sweatpants.

Casual=Tactical or Cargo pants/shorts
I never leave home in sweats, gym shorts etc.

In addition to the firearm I insist on having a reasonably secure place for a wallet, keys & phone.

Agreed. I never go out without pockets.

I'm kind of a Wrangler Jeans guy and have been most of my life. I wear shorts and t-shirts from May thru November though, being retired. Even to church with a sport shirt. I usually wear my shirts out side with a t-shirt inside and a IWB holster. I use tank t's in the summer and crew t's in the winter. They keep my gun from being in direst contact with my skin. I carry 24/7 and have never had a problem with printing or someone complaining. I almost never open carry. Why would I with and De and PA CCW Permit.
After a while you get really uncomfortable if you have to go someplace where you can't carry. Just feel wrong, ya know?

Although I have tried them I know of some who use a Belly Band.

You can use a Remora as long as you aren't doing anything athletic

I also like the Remora.  I have my HK P30 in it right now and it stays put.  I do use a good belt that holds everything tight.  I do no think the Remora would work with a full size pistol and just athletic shorts or sweatpants.

I carry a full sized Ruger SR 9 in a belly band when I wear sweats.  This is it:

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003V0KHBS/ref=oh_details_o09_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It conceals well, but it has to be tight to be secure.  Took some time to get used to it.

Springfield XDS 9.  OWB with untucked casual shirt in summer.  Carhard vest in fall.  Suit jacket when appropriate     When real cold hoodie untucked under winter coat.

Found that I just don't like IWB

I kinda wear/buy clothes to match the holister/gun, rather than buy holisters/guns to match clothes.

Obviously there is no right answer to this question.  It really is going to boil down to personal preference.  The point about dressing to fit your carry style is in my opinion the best advice.

Taylor your dress to your carry style as JOET said.
