When I took my Concealed Carry class, they suggested that we carry an assisted open knife in left pocket (if right handed) as a back up in case someone grabs our (right) gun arm..
Do any of you have such a knife and what would you recommend?

I think its a good advice to have an assisted opening knive. They merge function and speed to create a mechanism that opens a blade as fast and smooth as a switchblade. The difference between automatic knives and spring assisted knives is how the blade is deployed. An automatic knife deploys the blade on its own (no exterior finger force) with a trigger/button. A spring assisted knife needs an external force to engage the spring. Some states prohibit assisted opening knives so you'll need to check your state's knife regulations.
