Does anybody have any info on the possibility of being able to once again being able to get a PA. non-resident CC permit in Lancaster again if the current sheriff is replaced? I understand there is a lot of turmoil in the office under Sheriff Chris Leppler and the retention rate of employees is down 42%, including 3 administrative staff in the sheriffs office where permits are obtained.
Leppler is the one that needs to go and be replaced with some one that will reinstitute the non-resident Pa. permit again.
What say all?

I called last week because I was going to PA and want to renew my CCW but the lady in the office was very polite but told me the current sheriff was not issuing non-resident permits,
so I went to the airport in Reading and got my permit renewed in less than 20 minutes and returned to (lower slower) DE.
If you need a PA permit, make the trip to Reading.

Yep. That's what I did. Figured in 5 years maybe the Lancaster office will return to issuing non-res permits.

Anybody know when Leppler's term will be up? He needs to go.

York works, too.

Good to know. York was requiring you to have business dealings in county and not issuing same day.

I have always had good luck in Media, but it may take 2 trips. Parking is the pits!!!

Hopefully the term of Sheriff Chris Leppler ( the same Sheriff that did away with issuing non-resident CC permits) won't last long. Since he took over the Lancaster Sheriff's Office, it has been steadily going down hill. Read the article below:

yes, two trips. Parking tough. On second trip to pick up license, you can jump to the head of the line and the clerk will give you your permit.

Or the Reading Airport... Lots of parking. 1 trip. 20 minutes.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind. I last applied in Lancaster, but I believe I am due next year. I'm not hopeful that things will change before then.
Reading is only an extra 15 minutes away for me. Is there anything special to keep in mind when renewing a PA LTCF? I assume I just appear with my completed (but unsigned) SP 4-127, photocopies of my DE permit and drivers license, and a $20 bill? Do they care that I applied in one county five years ago, but a different county the next time?

Media had me to give them the Lancaster LTCF when I received the Media LTCF.

At Reading airport they gave me back my expired permit. 20 minutes sound about right. I was the only person there.

The only other thing I would do is call them BEFORE you leave. The day I renewed mine there PICS (background check system)
was down in the morning. But it came up about 1.5 hours before I arrived so I was ok.
