Same thing could be said about an AR-15, when you consider most any semi-automatic rifle of the same caliber will do as much damage in the right hands. People buy AR's because they look militaristic.

Probably true. I think a lot of folks like the military look. That is what also stirs up the antis. Even though the function is the same as a semi auto Elmer Fudd style hunting rifle.
