Received my permit today. Since I filed, I've been "lurking" here seeing how long it takes based on other's experience and feedback. To my fellow newbies who are waiting and trying to gauge timelines, here are my "stats" for the process:
Filed app: June 5th
Received: 27 August
Postmarked: 26 August
Sussex county
"old" style card --- I think anyway. My teenaged daughter laughed and said she could design something more "official looking" ::)
My application reason for permit was not the typical "protection of self, family and property." I had a serious occurrence (ongoing) and actually struggled with weather or not to be general or very specific with the details. I was very specific and it worked out. If you are in the process of applying and are in similar circumstances, I would be happy to share.
To the long time permit holders --- Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights. It is very much appreciated!

Congratulations, and welcome!

Welcome and enjoy the forum.

Congrats and Welcome. I guess Sussex Co. does not issue the "new" card but it is still a valid permit and that is all that counts. Your daughter is correct and I think Andy Taylor in Mayberry has a more official looking card. Again Congrats and now the 2nd Amend is working for you.

Welcome aboard, Congrats and Safe Carry !

Welcome aboard! In reference to old versus new permits, I believe it is only NCC that is issuing the new permits, at this time.

So. Now you must learn the handshake and secret codes to the rest of the forum. Welcome!

I must be one of the proverbial 10% who never get the word. :(

By now I'm sure you have done the "Wally Walk"....Your first carry is a stroll through Wally World. 8)

If it's the Wally World off of Rt. 40, even carrying that place still feels sketchy.

You must learn to ignore you gun. Don't adjust it, move it, fool with it. Let it be and shop 'til you drop.

Sadly, no wally walk yet. Because of the circumstance I've had to putout quite a bit of $ in the aftermath but healing is slowly being accomplished. I hope to pick up and M&P 9c next month -- doing some price shopping at the moment. I have a full size M&P 9 and love it. Also have one in a 22 flavor. The 22 is fun; took the wife to the range started with the 22 and transitioned to the 9 --- same look and feel just bigger boom. I could carry the full size but then I leave her with just the 22 -- not really an option in my mind. It will come, all in good time.
Like RetCapt said, the card does not matter the RIGHT does! Sussex=Mayberry? :P
So about the handshake and Password? Who do I see for that? Is there a challenge coin as well?
It would appear that wally is the initiation ritual?
