NO, it is not a scam. I have been getting their magazine for over a year now and it is quite informative and well produced.
I did not subscribe to their insurance plan just like the magazine.

I watched a USCCA streaming presentation.  Informative but loaded with a high pressure sales pitch that I felt was over the top.  If the insurance is a great value, it shouldn't have to be pushed that hard. Check it out and make your own decison.

Thanks for posting as I've been wondering about getting insurance myself.  Doesn't the NRA have an insurance plan as well?  Would love to hear more about this topic and will continue to do some additional research.

2nd call.  I'm getting info for/about them.  Whatever you get, READ the policy!
Some will only pay AFTER you've been cleared.  FEW will pay upfront.

For insurance for legal fees associated with the use of deadly force checkout the armed citizen's legal defense network, inc. The training material that comes with the membership is worth the cost a lone.

Found an answer to my question. According to the Self Defense Insurance thread on the GlockForum, Locton is an NRA affiliate and is recommended.
