Title: New Permit Card?
Post by: Five.Slow on May 21, 2015, 02:06:30 PM
I read on DELOC that someone emailed Dale Broome to check on his status and was told that his permit was approved but there are delays in processing because they were transitioning to a new permit card similar to a driver's license.   Is this true? Has anyone heard of or seen one of these?

That was me that posted about the new card. DepotDad here. New member, but I've been waiting to finally post on this forum. It's day 114 of my wait. Like I posted over at DELOC, Dale emailed that my permit was granted, but there's piles of permits to print now with the new machine. I'm not holding my breath that it'll get here before month 5. And BTW, hello to all

rikwick, did you send two photos in or did they photograph you like in PA? Now they should streamline the process for renewals just as they do PA. Maybe I am expecting too much.

Mine is holding up OK, because my wallet has a large slot for it that doesn't beat it up.
I will be happier with a normal card that doesn't look fake, especially when I'm driving cross country...

I just got my renewal last week and it is the usual crap laminated job. Just an FYI I am in Sussex county and it took 2 months from the time I submitted my renewal form.

retcapt1994 I still subitted two pictures.  The card is white, exacts same size as my drivers license but a little bit thicker.  I called the sherrif's office in Media, PA and was told the process is about two weeks for out of state permits.  I am not sure if Lancaster is doing it all in one day.

Lancaster takes about 15 minutes.  Show up with your Delaware, fill out the application and hand over $20. They run an instant check on the spot. They will take your picture and print out your card. That's it.

When I was in SC 8 years ago they just pulled the photo from the driver's license file to use on the permit.  The SC license and permit look very similar to each other and are the same construction with the same security features.

Just an add-on to my earlier post.

I have  United States Veteran ID card from the State of Delaware.  A note to other Vets here- This card from the DMV (at no cost) gets you discounts at various stores in Delaware (10% off at Lowes and Home Depot).  The DMV used my photo from my driver's license and the info I gave them (my DD-214) for the card.  It's the same size and quality as the driver's license.  The same method could be adapted to a CCW permit.

Well, it's an improvement I guess. Looks like they put the info from both sides of the old card and put it all on one side. Is there anything on the back?

Well I'm up to exactly 3 months since I submitted mine so it looks like I have a little over a month to go.

Is it paper, laminated or plastic?  What is the size?  The old design as just a little large.  It would be nice if it was the same size as the driver's license.  It is an improvement though.

Plastic and same size as a driver's license.
Just got back from Lancaster Co. from getting PA LTCF. Even they gave the new card a second look

Thank you for posting the picture of the card. I look forward to having one sometime during the Sanders-Franken administration.  :D

In that case would national concealed carry be a reality or just a joke? ;)

Did you get any indication other than you sending an email to Dale Broome to know that is was being processed?  For example, did the DOJ ever contact you or your references?  In in just over 3 months and haven't heard a thing in NCC.

Sanders is from Vermont... and the Democratic establishment is already trying to attack him for his many pro-gun votes.

Most folks never hear a thing. It just shows up.  If you don't do your training before submitting you will be notified that you are approved and will get your license when you submit.  I have signed for at least a half a dozen people and have never been contacted.  Nor were the folks who signed for the Mrs and I ever contacted.

Like Clarence said- I, nor my references, never heard anything. I took the long way around the barn. Asked a couple "newb" questions regarding processing and wait time, then asked about my status at the end of the email ;D

I also got my Veteran ID card this week and am trying to find where the discounts are. Lowes and Home Depot does give a 10% discount as you mentioned. Please post if anyone knows where other discounts can be obtained. Sorry, little off subject here.

I received my card yesterday and it is just a piece of laminated paper, no where as nice as drivers license or vet card. This was not a renewal but a 1st. I am in Sussex cty.

@Richie:  That's odd.   I received mine today and it's plastic. . . like a credit card or BJs membership card, with a color photo.  I'm in New Castle Cty.
