Title: SCR 8
Post by: MarkB on February 10, 2021, 03:06:31 PM
I received this email from the NRA today.

Mark --

Legislators hostile to Second Amendment rights are not going to rest this session. Last month, the Senate passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 8 declaring “gun violence” as a public health crisis along a mostly partisan vote. The General Assembly is currently in recess to hold budget hearings, but if SCR 8 passes the House as well, then it will be used to justify a whole slew of anti-gun bills as necessary for public health. Please contact your state Representative and ask them to OPPOSE SCR 8.
Take Action!

While the legislation has not yet been filed, it is expected to include schemes, such as bans on commonly owned firearms and standard capacity magazines, and discriminating against young adults by denying them Second Amendment rights.

Again, please contact your state representative and ask them to OPPOSE SCR 8. NRA-ILA will continue to monitor and send updates as “gun control” legislation is introduced and moves through the legislative process.

Respectfully,

Carlin Anderson

I suppose reminding them that we don't have a gun problem, we have a criminal problem, would be of little use???

Whereas, we the people of Delaware have a problem with criminals that commit crimes with a firearm, because you, the leaders of this state will not do anything about the criminal rampage.  You need to make use of a firearm during a crime substantial, and not a bargaining chip to let criminals walk free.   Use of a firearm, 5-10 years, cannot be bargained away.

And we already have a list places we cannot carry.

Bill,
I blame the Judges and Lawyers for pleading down the charge or dismissing it all together. You see in the paper when people are arrested that they are charged with using a gun in the commission of a felony, but how many are actually convicted as charged. My bet is @@@@ few as the charges are dropped or pleaded down. Again my finger points at the Lawyers and Judges in Delaware.

UPDATE: found this article stating in Delaware 71% of charges are dropped:
