Title: No DE license. Problem?
Post by: OldEvergreen on February 27, 2011, 07:15:14 PM
I am getting ready to get my application together and get training and everything and I had a question:
I am Active Duty military and have a Washington State DL.  It does not expire and Washington is my state of legal residence (taxes, etc).
Am I going to need to get a Delaware DE to get a CCW?  How long to I have to live here before I am considered a "resident"?

As a Washington resident, you may be better off obtaining a non-resident permit from a state Delaware honors.
Some of those states would require you to have a Washington state permit first.

I am not a lawyer. Your mileage may vary. The white zone is for loading and unloading only.

Get an Arizona (http://www.azdps.gov/Services/Concealed_Weapons/Permits/Obtain/)...your military service is all the training you need and it will cover you in DE.  You can do the whole process thru the mail...will take about 2 weeks.

One more thing: if you were to actually become a Delaware resident (i.e., you obtain a Delaware driver's license), no out-of-state permit would be valid for you in Delaware.
