So my DE CCDW permit finally arrived in the mail on Saturday. 178 days since they cashed my check... I work in Philly, so wanted to also apply for PA - which for out-of-state residents requires a copy of your home state's carry permit. Anyway, York PA is one of the only "close by" PA counties currently accepting non-resident applications. It's all done online, so I applied online yesterday (Sunday). This morning, I received an email that my application has been approved, and instructions to make an appointment to pick it up in person, with available slots open as soon as today!
-
BEFORE covid, I did reading intl airport. In/out 15 minutes w/ltcf in hand.
-
Congrats! What website did you go to, to apply for PA? I know the judge signed off on mine on 10-15. Still waiting for it to show up. I’m gonna do PA As well.
-
No website needed precovid.
Had application in hand. But again this was precovid
-
Many counties are illegally refusing to accept applications from out of state. Even so called “constitutional” sheriffs like Bunny in Chester County and Berks County. For now we will have to travel to central PA
-
I have no NEED to go to Pennsylvania, so I say Screw them and their permit. There are plenty of other states I can go to if I choose. PA. just needs to know that if I don't go to PA., my money goes where I go and they lose the tourist bucks that I spend. So how is that a win for PA.? Boycott PA.
-
I let my PA LTCF expire last year, and my Delaware CCDW became invalid when I moved to Arizona.
Unless I want to carry in "places that serve alcohol for consumption on the premises" (and I don't drink), I don't need a permit to bear arms here, and neither do you.
When I get an AZ permit, I'll be able to carry in most states, including DE and PA.
I can use my DE permit to satisfy AZ's training requirement.
I'll be glad to pick y'all up at the airport...

What about Lancaster County? Closer then York for me. I am like 5 minutes from PA and Chester is probably the closest or Delaware County.
-
I went to Media until last year, Covid. But Reading (I think) was in-out not problem. Nice drive.

I think it's been noted that Lancaster County is no longer providing non resident licensing services. I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong
-
NormH3, you are CORRECT.
PRECOVID, Media was two trips. 1 to drop off application, 2nd to pick up LTCF. Not sure what it is today.
-
Same experience for me. I applied Friday night and got the approval some time after lunch today. So assuming they started working on it at 9am Monday morning, it took them about 4 hours to process it and send out an email.
-
Sprue so did you apply in York or Reading?

I went with York because of the experience the OP had. It was very easy to apply online. You just fill out a form and upload pics of your ID and CCW license.
-
Question. Your 2 references for the PA permit. Do they need to be PA residents?
-
They do not need to be PA residents
-
Thanks Clarence. I've been approved and need to go pick up my permit. I used DE references. Nice drive to York coming up 😃

No, I used 2 of my 5

Remember that on your way to York you or anyone else with ANY license may carry in your vehicle. ( but not concealed on the street).
Here is PA law listing the exemption:
Title 18 6106 exemption 11
(11) Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle,
which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license
for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the
United States or any other state

Be careful on that drive. I went on Wednesday and in that one trip I saw lots of roadkill including deer on the side of the road. I also saw an overturned truck in the median with the driver trapped inside. I've seen so many serious accidents in the past few weeks. People are making a lot of dumb mistakes.
-
I'm going up this Friday and will take my good old time. I'm going to their satellite office.. hopefully no issues...

PLUS they MUST provide secure storage if you must disarm.
Wish Delaware did.

Like when I walk in to a PA gun store and see surpressors for sale and start looking on Zillow for homes for sale in PA
-
Did the York run today on a beautiful fall day. Not a bad trip. Very friendly and helpful at their satellite office. Now I'm licensed in DE and PA. 😃
-
Congratulations. Guess we will have to do that in 2023 unless Lancaster and/or Berks revert to issuing non resident again. It will be quite a hike from lower Sussex
-
Would be great if at least one of the surrounding counties would issue non-residents Chester, Delaware, Burk or Lancaster would be less of a hassle...

Apply online:
https://delawarepa.permitium.com/ccw/start
Individuals who are 21 years of age or older and are NOT Pennsylvania residents may apply for a license by submitting a completed Application for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms along with the required fee. A Pennsylvania license cannot be issued to a resident of another state who does not possess a current unrestricted license or permit, or similar document to carry a firearm issued by their home state if a license is provided for by the laws of that state, as published annually in the Federal Register by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the Department of the Treasury.
Media, PA here I come

Is Delaware County (Media) now issuing to non-residents? The link seems to say you must be a Delaware County resident.
-
To clarify, I called the Delco Sheriffs office and was informed that irregardless of the contradictory statements on the website, they do issue new and renewable LTCF licenses to Delaware residents who hold a valid Delaware CCDW license. Can be done on line so that you need only make one trip to Media.
-
I don't mind the trip to Media, but parking around the courthouse is tough.
-
Wife and I applied about a month ago. Approved in 21 days. Drove up to Media to pick up. In and out in 10 minutes. Long drive from Lower Slower, but done.
I understand York and Adams counties are much quicker, but obviously longer drive from DE.
-
This is great news! Media is a lot closer to me then York. Though I am licensed in PA via York I assume I will have to re-apply in Media as a new applicant?
-
Yes it will be a NEW app.
See this for info https://delcopa.gov/sheriff/firearmslicenses.html (https://delcopa.gov/sheriff/firearmslicenses.html)
I'd also reach out to them to make sure non-res is ok. On the site Del co res only.
