Hello folks,
I live in Wilmington and just got back into shooting after a 20 year layoff. Been shooting 22, 9mm, 7.62, and shotgun @ clays. I received my CCDW permit about a week ago in response to the death spiral our economy seems to be in, and the crime that it is creating. I am married with 2 college age daughters.

All the best,
hf

Oh yea, almost forgot. I am a liberal Democrat (a minority around here I expect), from a long line of liberals, who's progeny are carrying on the family tradition in fine form if I do say so myself.  ;) With the exception of my kids (I'm working on em), everyone in my family has always used and enjoyed guns, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, uncles, aunts...

You can post your pic one of 2 ways if your going to add it to your profile as an avatar you can load it under profile. If you want to post a pic in a post you need to up load it to a service like photo bucket which is free and post the URL for it in the post.

Hello All   My wife and I live in Newark we moved back to Del to help take care of my parents after spending 20 years in a little bigger state, Texas.

We both just received our permits and we are looking forward to getting back to "concealed carry" again. We both like to carry the S&W 642 for size and weight.

Glad to see the Forum back up and running and will be checking in at least once a week for updates.
 :)

For some of you guys (& gals) that recently got your permit, how long did it take once you submitted your paper work?

James welcome and to answer your question It takes on an average of 5 weeks but could take more then 3 months. My understanding is that there has been an influx of permit apps so it could take awhile.

Hello everyone,

A gunsmith buddy told me of this site.
I am a Delaware gun owner, and gun enthusiest.
I've shot guns all my life and recently started back working in a gunshop on saturdays.
I taught my wife to shoot, and she bought me a Kel-tec PLR-116 .223cal. pistol for our first year wedding anniversary.
The wife just bought her second gun, I think I created another gun nut.
I'm big into Blackpowder, and converting blackpowder to cartridge.
In fact..  here's one of my projects.  I took an Uberti Mellenium 1858 Remington cap and ball, chopped the barrel from 8inches to 3inches, added an R&D 45colt conversion cylinder and a Kirst cylinder pin retainer. Turned out to be a great little Bull Dog.

Hi. I've joined this forum to learn about which gun(s) to buy, from experts.  I haven't made a purchase yet, and I'm not sure what to buy so l'll spend most of the time reading and learning from all the participants.

The DeCCW is a great idea.  Thank you for having this forum.

Welcome. As far as any one person being an expert I think you will find everyone has their own opinion on what works best. Please feel free to ask any questions you have and we will answer them the best we can. The one thing I highly recomend is to take a look at as many different firearms as possiable before making a purchase. You can even goto Targetmaster in PA and rent different firearms and shoot them there. So ask all the questions you want and feel free to browse the forums.

how about a "where to buy" and a link to the "where to shoot" NRA website, and links to store and club home pages?

you only THINK you've been to every gun shop in Delaware...

Hello all

I'm a New Yorker who has lived in Middletown for two years.

My background includes USAF Armament Specialist in the 1950's and New York State Concealed Carry Permit from 1978 to 2007; when, I surrendered it due to change in residency.

I am into handguns of ALL kinds, including Black Powder.

I want to get back into shooting and probably will want to get licensed for concealed carry in Delaware.

I am curious about "Cowboy Action" shooting; and, would like to know if it is availavle in northern Delaware.

Hello my fellow gun enthusiasts. I was just honorably discharged from the United States Marines, after having served 4 years. Last year I took a trip up to the Newark, DE/Elkton, MD area, and I fell in love with it. I have been accepted to the University of Delaware, and plan on changing my resisdence from Alabama to Delaware. I'm a native of Aroostook County Maine, and an avid hunter. I currently hold and Alabama concealed carry permit, and plan on obtaining a pemit for Delaware. I just wanted to introduce myself, as a new member, and future resident of Delaware. I have had extensive weapons training, and experience, and I am open to any questions that anyone would like to ask, and I have many questions to ask also.

Just curious, because it's OOHRAH, not HOORAH. And we quit saying that so much. That word is for "boots," (The FNGs, people fresh out of bootcamp). We mostly say "Kill" or "Yut." And some officer decided that the word "boot" and the term "FNG" were offensive, so some smartass decided to call them JEWs (Junior Enlisted Warriors). Needless to say that didn't work out very well. Irony is an everyday part of the U.S. military.

We just have alot of pride imbedded in us. I think they replaced our lost brain cells with pride. The Navy (Never Again Volunteer Yourself) must have replaced their lost brain cells with fat cells. lol

Yeah, thankfully not all of us were fat bodies. They replace Marine (my @@@ rides in navy equipment)  with a lot of things from what I saw and heard. Not all bad though.

I was into High Power Rifle Shooting and Combat Rifle Shooting competition in the service and being retired since 1993 have always been interested in pistol shooting.  The M1911A1 was my TOE weapon as a radio operator in Vietnam with the USMC.  I feel the need to have a hand gun for personal protection and for my family.  So I will be going through the procedures to obtain a CDW Permit.

Excellent forum!  I moved from Alabama to DE in November.  I held the Alabama pistol permit and carried without incident for the past four years, and I'm hoping to get a DE CCW permit this year (if I can find the references).  Glad to join the community.

New member - I have hunted and shot (skeet, some pistol and bow) on and off all my life.  Am thinking of getting  a permit for protection of self and family.

I will  rely on this group for  advice, etc.

Thanks in advance..

by the way anjdrifter - there is a shooting range / gun shop in Dover that conducts the classes - don't know if it is appropriate for me to give the name on this forum or not.

Thanks!
