Does having a ccw make it easier to purchase a new gun? Im looking to buy another and was wondering if the ccw will speed up ther process.

Sigs right, with the DE CCDW you don't have to do the DE call, which is the longest call.

Yes. The dealer fills out the Delaware background check form, but simply writes "DE CCDW #______________" on it and does not phone the state for a background check.

I've purchased several firearms since having my CCW. Each time (only two different dealers) knew I had my permit. Both calls to the feds as well as the state were placed. One of the dealers was the guy I took my CCW class from!

I'll preface my original response with, "In my experience..."

Guys, were all right on this one. According to state law, the CCDW can be accepted in lieu of the state call. However, the state police tell dealers that they should make the call because there is no way for us to know if the permit is still valid (meaning the carrier hasn't violated any laws). Some dealers follow the law and don't make the call and some follow the DSP and do make it.

Bought a pistol recently from a private FFL. He said because of the CCW he does not have to call state. However he feels the De CCW is overly simplistic and can be easily forged, so the first time he works with someone he calls the state.

Lums - your FFL north Wilmington? Mine is. Filled out the State paperwork, but did not call it. He sees me fairly regularly at the club.

Bottom line, the process was faster. Did I get out of there faster - NO talked too much.... But I did have enough time to buy a handgun on my lunch hour and still had time to spare. HEHE

So I picked up a new glock 19 and was in and out of the store in about 5 minutes.. The ccw made it much easier.. Just like you guys are saying no phone call going to the state.
