Good "renewal" experience in Lancaster today
« on: August 06, 2015, 09:19:21 PM »
Like many on this forum, my wife and I have PA LTCF's issued by mail from Centre County. The law has changed, and they are not allowed to issue or renew permits by mail.

I didn't want to drive up to State College (more than three hours each way), so I took the required paperwork up to Lancaster this afternoon to see if I could take care of it there.
They handled it as a new permit, not a renewal. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes, permit in hand.

A couple weeks ago I received a post card from Centre Cty. PA. notifying me of my renewal. I called Lancaster and they said they can issue a NEW license on the spot and she also said that if I go to Centre Cty. I would have to apply for a renewal and go back in 15 days to pick up my new renewal license. She also said some Counties in PA. have different application and renewal policies than other counties. Good to call first so you know what process you will have to go through.

Lancaster REALLY appreciated us having our applications printed and filled out with all the info included. You must sign and date the application in front of them (Notary). She advised not to come on Friday's, very busy.

When i went up to lancaster I already had the form completed, signed, and dated.  Odd they didn't make me fill out a new form.  This was just less than a month ago.

I went to Lancaster Cty today for my permit.  Had my paperwork printed in advance.  Brought copies of my DL and CCDW as well.   Was there no more than 20 minutes and walked out with permit in hand.  Very friendly staff.  Highly recommend everyone go to that county.

The missus and I made a day trip of it.   Rode up along the Susquehanna river.  Spent some time in Amish country.  Then took 896 the whole way back.  Beautiful country.

Interesting side note: in the 20 minutes i was there,  at least 7 other people came in to apply.  I'd love to see the statistics on number of permits issued.

Good old 896. Spoiled by a quarter mile slice of Maryland.
Just a smelly deplorable dreg of society clinging to God and guns.

Lancaster Sheriff's office is the only place to go for Delawareans to get permit. Quick, friendly, and courteous.
