I think I would have to go with night sights.
Like tracers,I think a laser would work both ways.
Ok what do you all think.

I like night sights but not so much on lasers. red laser in daylight don't show real well and all I can see is how much my hand is bouncing but I like them for dry fire practice. A good night sight gives you something to focus on and see what your muzzle is on.

On a defensive handgun?
Night sights - an absolute must
Laser sights - an absolute no-no (for many reasons)

Why no laser sights on a defensive gun Proshooter? Isn't this what they market the laser for? Me I'm not a big fan of the laser, and I agree night sights a must.

Lasers run on batteries, which die at the most inopportune moments.
Lasers tell the bad guy in your home at 2am that you are A) armed, and b) your location. If he knows you are armed, he is more likely to use his gun.
All you've probably done at the range is practice with the laser. When the batteries die, you will not have the pratical experience of acquiring proper sight picture and alignment. The laser made you into a lazy shooter.

A laser won't make a shooter lazy, the shooter makes himself lazy. Lasers are not and can not be viewed an aiming solution, rather another tool to use when aiming. I think if in a confrontation that dosent allow you to attain a proper sight picture such as very close quarters or even a car jacking where you can not extend your gun than a laser can be a very useful tool.I also use mine for dry firing exercises, nothing teaches proper trigger control than to see how much your gun bounces while you pull the trigger.

Gunenvy I agree 100% with what you said, How ever I agree on the battery issue just ask Taurus221 about batteries and lasers. ;D

Sig, while the batteries will die they do not just die out of the blue. Firstly, I know crimson trace says that their grips will run for something like 5 years before you need to replace the battery and secondly before they die they do dim somewhat. Just like you would inspect your magazines periodicaly or change out your ammo for a fresh batch you check the intensity of your laser beam.

I have both a laser and a light attached to my HD gun. There are many things you can do to tell the BG where you are, a light or laser is just one. Unless you are going through a completely dark house or room you will be seen and you will probably be heard regardless. I am not aware of any examples where a laser or light attached to a handgun has led to a homeowner being shot or disarmed. I want to see what I am shooting at. The only way to do that is with a light.

I agree hawk! I know at my house if somebody breaks in at 0 dark 30, he already knows where I am.... I'm ipstairs in bed. And while nights sights make your muzzle easier to see they do nothing to illuminate the target which may be my teenage son sneaking in or out. In the end it comes down to practicing with your rig and just when you feel like you have it down pat, practicing some more.

Gunenvy I understand what your saying and I agree like anything they require up keep, which some people don't understand and people should learn the proper use for laser sights and to also learn to use their night sights. As far as Taurus221's incident I was wrong his batteries did not die the were knocked loose after the first shot.

Have a Lazermax (guide rod) in my Para. Works GREAT!!! Do NOT use it as much as I should. Do not want to become dependent on it.
