Yes Lumspond!!  That is why I started this thread because I was taught one thing in class but when I go back and read the law it just confuses me!  Thanks for the clarification.

Exactly.
If you're carrying illegally, it's worse in a school zone.
If you're carrying with a permit, it's still legal in a school zone.

It is not a felony for a LEO or security guard to carry a weapon in a school zone. Does not apply.

(1457-h) This section shall not apply to any law enforcement or police officer, or to any security officer as defined in Chapter 13 of Title 24.

13/24 lists requirements for security guards, etc.

So what about state parks?  I was at Bellvue this morning and wasn't sure about that so I wasn't carrying.

Unfortunately, the Legislature gave DNREC powers they should not have, the result is, no guns allowed in state parks.

Good info guys, thanks!!  I already new the answer but glad to see everyone's responses. It's sad to say but our schools need an armed guard in every classroom. My son goes to Poly so you just don't know what's gonna happen next :'(
