Title: Dover Mall
Post by: Crony on September 08, 2016, 08:09:26 PM
Hello:

I noticed that Dover Mall was on the no carry list. A couple of weeks ago the wife and I did some shopping there. We entered the mall entrance between Boscov's and Men's Warehouse. I did not see any notice or universal sign indicating the guns were not allowed.

Any info or opinion appreciated. Thanks !

The mall is private property they can have a policy yet not have a sign.  All they can so is tell you to leave or not wear a gun.  If you refuse, you can be arrested for trespass.  If you are concealed how would they even know?

I have been carrying concealed at the Dover Mall for over 20 yrs.  Yes out of sight out of mind. I will not risk my safety because of some liberal making a soft target. If security discovers you are carrying and ask you to leave you leave. With what is happening in Dover lately IMHO it is a must to be able to defend yourself. Regards to all at DECCW.

Bought a rifle at Dick's Sporting Goods, and while there I asked the salesman about carry there. He said the mall policy was no guns, but it does not extend to their store. As he said, concealed means concealed. How would I know if you were carrying?

It has been awhile since I was in that mall. They used to have a sign covering all their rules (guns about have way down) once you entered and got about 20-30 feet. I enter through the anchor stores where no such signs exist.

I rarely read signs before... now, I don't read them at all.

"Signs, signs, everywhere signs, can't do this can't do that can't you read the sign?"

If you know where this came from you grew up in good times.

The mall director said "You look like a fine upstanding unarmed young man, At least I think think you do"

I have come to this myself I no longer care about those silly little signs.

Do you mean the original or the cover?  I'm sure that both generations would argue for their version and their time.  Of course, the folks that remember neither would probably argue that now is better than then, so...

As far as the meaning of the signs, I stand by my argument that I am illiterate and also failed Pictionary class -- meaning I am unable to understand the meaning of any apparent anti-gun signs.

I have a answer to the Dover Mall. I haven't been there in about 2 years, except to go to Boscov's by back entrance, or Dick's Sporting Goods (who have a separate entrance and their answer to Concealed Carry is, " if it's concealed, how do we know you're carrying?".
I do most of my shopping in the Milford area. No malls, no signs.
