REAL common sense gun laws

(1/1)

formerly known as frank:
Today Kansas Governor Sam Brownback (R) signed House Bill 2052 into law (see this URL: http://www.kslegislature.org/li/b201...52_03_0000.pdf for details). It takes effect on July 1, 2013, and will make the following pro-gun improvements in Kansas:

-- Exempts the lawful discharge of firearms—whether for hunting or self-defense—from criminal prosecution.

-- Requires that government and public buildings that prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms for self-defense must screen ALL visitors for weapons. This would ensure that ALL individuals who enter the buildings are disarmed, not just the law-abiding citizens who choose to follow the law. If a building lacks the adequate security measures necessary to screen all visitors, then citizens with a concealed carry license would be allowed to carry a firearm to protect themselves while visiting that particular building.

-- Makes the personal information of concealed carry license applicants confidential and exempt from Freedom of Information Act requests.

-- Exempts law enforcement officers from the training requirements necessary to obtain a concealed carry license.

-- Authorizes school officials to allow staffers and visitors to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense.

Also see this URL": http://www.nraila.org/legislation/st...aspx?s=&st=&ps=, which reports that Kansas Governor Sam Brownback (R) signed Senate Bill 21, which is a right-to-carry reform bill that would make these important changes:

-- Allows for universal recognition of non-resident carry permits. In other words, any law-abiding visitor from out-of-state with a valid state-issued carry permit would be allowed to carry a concealed handgun in Kansas.

-- This change not only benefits concealed carry permit holders from other states who visit Kansas, but it also makes it more likely that other states will recognize Kansas citizens' carry permits.

The good news is that while states like Colorado, New York, and Connecticut are dropping the ball, other states like Kansas and Idaho are not.

Send this to your state senators and reps, INSIST they they consider REAL common sense gun laws.

Newlife503:
Makes me want to move to kansas

Cbmarine:
Evidence that Sam Brownback raised the average IQ of the state governors at the expense of the US Senate IQ average where he had served well for 15 years.

Just Bill:

This is the best news I have heard in a long time relating to helpful firearm reform.
