Watch out for banks that have two "airlock" doors with metal detectors in between. (Citizens Bank has at least two, one on Marsh Road and another in front of the ShopRite on Route 4 near Marrows Road).

You wouldn't be breaking any laws, but it would be mighty embarrassing to spend ten minutes trapped in there until the cops showed up and escorted you out at gunpoint.

i havent seen any signs posted at the bank i use but i wasnt sure if it was considered some type of federal building since they are FDIC insured and things like that plus a buddy of mine who has his ccw told me his instructor said banks were on the no list to carry by law so i was just checking

LMAO, they have a boobie trap instead!  The lasso kicks in, and lo and behold, you'll find yourself hanging up side down by one boot waiting for Barney Fife to arrive!  LOL

Ok, I just couldn't resist.  I know Sussex isn't like that, but with family who live down "thar", it just struck me as funny.

One of the bank branches I mentioned, over near Marrows Road, has been robbed repeatedly -- including at least one armed robbery after the airlock doors were installed. That shopping center suffers from being within walking distance of a very bad neighborhood. There is a lot of crime in that parking lot.

I bank at Citizens, but I use a branch that is inside an Acme and therefore has no doors of its own. It was robbed five times in 2010 by the same guy.

Banks are not federal facilities....they are merely private institutions.  Even the {insert armed service branch here} Federal Credit Unions are only private organizations.

This is one of the issues I have with requiring classes for CCW.  Most of the folks taking these classes are newbies...and will take everything the instructor says as "law"....  Not knocking instructors...it's just the dynamics of the classroom setting.

Jam, so right on law.  But like they say, law is to be interpreted...    Very grey area , if you ask me.

What Banks? Not at all its very cut and dry you can carry at a Bank. There is no law that states you cant. Just because they are FDIC Insured means nothing when it comes to their status they are private corp.

The Del-One Credit Union in Milford has the "sallyport" style doors AND a no gun sign posted.
