Hey, just checking in to see if anyone has heard anything on current wait times.
Mine was sent in and check cashed beginning of June for NCC.. am I looking like August/September ?
Any chance with the huge influx they speed things up to get through them ?
-
COUNTY???
My cousin file her NEW app in January. STILL waiting.
-
New Castle .
Couldn’t your cousin be a outlier or need more reasearxh ?
I’ve red other forums where people got them
Back in 45-60 days
-
Consider this. The first part of the year is devoted to renewal of permits. There are little to no new applications processed. This year with the "pandemic" and the huge increase of permit applications, I would say it will take twice as long to get a new application thru the system. Back when I got mine, years ago, I got mine in just about 60 days. That was then, and this is now.
You just have to wait. Why not get a hobby, like target shooting?

No. Don't think she needs additional review as she had had bg checks for work.
How long for you so far?
-
Lower "slower "is much faster than NCC
-
Almost 6 weeks.
Sent it with copies of all other permits and certificates.
-
Which reminds me, my PA is due in Oct. Media has always worked for me.

That's Slower Lower Delaware. We're not selling bumper stickers. ;D
-

Media will be 2 trips. If you want 1 trip, look in the posts I put up about Berks & Bucks Cos.
1 offered mail in app and a call when ready.
-
Still no update here.
-
Beginning of June, look for a CHRISTMAS present.....
-
Today was the first day they have started new applications.
Up until now it was all renewals

OK. Again, look forward to a CHRISTMAS present.....
NORMAL processing time for NCC is 4 to 6 mos.

No offense, but you're kidding, right?
What part of anything during COVID has been sped up?
If anything, I would expect your wait to double, if not triple.
-
does anyone know the e-mail address for dale broome she in charge of permits
-
Sure the search function is working....
dale.broome@delaware.gov

IIRC, the Subject line must be “CCDW Inquiry”. Posted previously.
dale.broome@state.de.us
Suffixes may map to same server.

As an update.. 3-4 weeks on since starting new applications.
I was told I was in Phase 2 with the AG... 3-4 weeks to get through DOJ check seems quick to me
-
There is no incentive to get you a concealed carry permit in a Democrat controlled state, especially in this "faked" pandemic shut-down. Remember, the Democrats never fail to take advantage of an emergency. It is their "credo".
-
Friend of mine (New Castle Co) dropped off his renewal mid April. Just received it Aug 24.
-
Update 2.
Signed off by judge and waiting to be put into system and card mailed out.
8 weeks is quite quick
-
Wife and I submitted both applications to Dover/Kent County in person in middle July 2020, came in on Saturday October 13th 2020. Just about 3 months. We had heard that the weren’t working on new applications until 21 July this year but ours appear to have made the cut.
Wife ordered her S&W M&P Shield EZ9 at the same time after the CCDW class. My P229 was a little bit more than she could carry - lol lol. lol. It hasn’t come in yet as of 25 Oct. maybe XMAS - next year - lol. Lol. Lol
Warm regards.
-
I submitted my CCDW late September. I emailed as a follow up (just being curious) and was basically laughed at and said 3-6 months minimum right now. Fingers crossed for sometime around Christmas!

How rude... I'd start checking mailbox EVERYDAY now..... ;D

Looks like NCC.
6 mos is normal for NCC.
-
I submitted mine in late June and it took 3.5 months. Christmas time or a bit after seems about right assuming there's no hang ups.

I still will even though I know it won't be for a few more months! hoping MAYBE with the influx they potentially speed things up but I know with this state that won't happen, if anything I'll be lucky to have it by spring :(
-
Well, they cashed my check 3 weeks ago, so that is a good sign I take it? Do they typically do that in the beginning regardless of time-frame? Just curious.
-
Yes. Money goes to the bank asap.
Also. I'm sure you are aware of, Del is a MAY ISSUE State.
But, I'm sure you will have no problem there.
-
The waiting sucks.
We've all been there. It seems like forever.
-
Yup, I did know that. Thankfully I don't have anything that should hold them back from issuing. Dotted and crossed everything form wise before I submitted. All that's left to do now is hurry up and wait :)
-
I've been told that if you are turned down for a permit, the state still keeps your money like most other states do also.
They say the charge is to process the application, they did, you were turned down because of your record.
-
And you also have the right to be heard in front of a judge if denied.
-
I agree.
-
Has anyone heard of wait times for applying for the non-resident PA ccdw? I'm waiting on my DE CCDW (about a month and a half since applying), but as soon as that's in, I want to get my PA non resident as well. I live in North Wilmington, grocery shop in PA and work in a not so good area in south eastern PA. I know that if you have your states ccdw license its fairly easy, in and out. However a coworker of mine is a PA resident, and he called to set up an appt to get his, and the first available spot to come in was late January of 2021. Just curious if anyone here has done it recently. I don't want to get ahead of my self and set an appointment and when the time comes not have my DE CCDW. Thoughts?

Update- almost 5 months- emailed Dale again today and she said it was approved and waiting to be printed with "100's of others that have been approved". No idea how long that will take but now I know I can start checking the mail box with some hope of seeing it soon.
-
Great news.
-
Just crossed the three month mark on wait time for new permit (Kent County).
-
I feel you. I'm almost at the 5 mo mark in NCC. Was told it was approved but "waiting to be printed"

Lo and behold, I post about it on a Saturday and the permit was in my mailbox on Monday. Talked to a buddy who applied about two weeks after me, also in Kent County, and his arrived today as well. So, I can confirm that Kent County sends them out in batches and they're running at about 3 months.
Good luck, ttrotter16. Every day is another day closer. You're just unfortunately up where all the people live.
-
Several years back, I seem to recall that a proposal was being submitted to create a commission to handle conceal carry permits to decrease wait times. Did this get squashed?
-
The "commission" didnt go any where.
I think ALL of us should write our Sen & Rep. and express our opinion on the issue. MAYBE we can get Dover working for US.
Sent this out already.
Dear Mr. Cooke,
Hope this finds you well.
The current "processing time" for CCDW(s) in Delaware for New Castle County is 6 months from the time an applicant drops off their application until they should expect to hear something.
The other 2 counties take half of that time. (And we call them Lower Slower Delaware????)
States like Arizona Are allowed 60 (sixty) days to process the application and must issue within 15 days after that. Please see item H in this link https://www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03112.htm
Our neighboring State of Pennsylvania issues within 45 days. Please see item E in this link https://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/LI/CT/HTM/18/00.061.009.000..HTM If other licenses can
be issued in a timely manner, I feel our CCDW(s) should be too.
Also, our neighbor Pennsylvania, PER LAW MUST provide a secure facility for firearms when entering a court. Please see item E in https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/LI/consCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&ttl=18&div=0&chpt=9&sctn=13&subsctn=0 I think Delaware should adopt the SAME thing. If I go to the courthouse to renew my permit leaving my
gun in the car is NOT safe, neither are the lockers OUTSIDE the court facility.
Eagerly waiting for YOUR reply,
Radnor

And.... as a result of being VOCAL, my Sen reached out to me.
"As a side note, I've recieved a number of emails from members of the 2A community calling for repeal of the state's Red Flag laws.
Maybe we can find a time to discuss that as well."
And my reply....
"When ever you want to discuss, please let me know. I will make the time. I cannot say how much I appreciate you taking the time."
-
Thats a good letter. Would you mind if I used it either in full or in part? I think it hits all the key points.
-

PLEASE USE as much of it as you see fit. Unfortunately, I cannot find the chart I had which listed the processing times for permits.
Will have to look for it again. Hopefully, I bookmarked it.
I want EVERYONE to write! It's the ONLY way we can do something. Too many just sit on their duffs with the attitude of I have mine, so I dont need to do anything.

Finally got mine this past Saturday, almost 5 1/2 months to the day. Thanks NCC for the quick turn around
-
I would write or call (BOTH) your state Sen & Rep. Let them know.
I remember something about wheel & oil...
-
Sent my paper work in in December 16 still waiting no response 5 months later! NCC
-
Mine was beginning of Oct to begginning of March, a little over 5 months. Yours should be there any week now.
-
Seven months still no permit called Ncc several time left messages no reply😡
-
Yeah totally sucks.. I submitted all my stuff in march and I am still waiting. Unfortunately NCC is not 2A friendly...
-
I have been waiting since Dec 8 2020 NCC dose not reply to 2 phone calls or 2 emails wonder if calling attorney general about no communication from them would work?
-
Do you really think the hug a thug AG would do anything?
I'd start calling my state senator and representative. Also remind them is this the SAME group that will be processing the permit to purchase should it pass? I would call them daily.
-
Submitted my NCC renewal 1/6/21 received my permit 7/22. I did call a couple weeks ago to see what was going on (an issue or just they are getting caught up) I got a call back a day later and the lady I spoke with said I was approved but it was in the process of printing the cards.
-
I put my new application in 04-03-21. I didn’t ask her how long it would be. I guess I’ll be lucky to get it this year? I’m in NCC.
-
COUNTY???
My cousin file her NEW app in January. STILL waiting.
I am in precisely the same boat. NCC-Hand delivered mine on 1/25, still waiting. Absolutely horrible. Worst part of this? I got two new FFLs in the time I spent waiting. When the federal government is running circles around you, you know something is very awry. O well, I think I'll leave my CCW permit in my will to my son, just in case I die of old age waiting.
They told me six months when I filed, which was outrageous to begin with. Now they are even past that. I got admitted to the State's Bar (I'm a lawyer too), and even that took less time. And for that they asked for copies of virtually every document related to me under the sun.
Oh well, I waited this long and it's not I don't always have a gun within arm's reach all the time anyway...
-
As I've said before, Renewals get processed before they start on New Applications. Always have. The more People getting new Permits, mean the more renewals there are to process 3 years later. Now just think of the increase of permits that have been filed in the last 3 years. Then the permit renewal time is 5 years the second time around and so it goes. Seems to me the solution is more people to process the applications has got to happen. Here is the deal. The State is run by Democrats (because you voted for them) Democrats don't want you having guns anyhow. Solution: STOP VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS! YOU ARE SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE FOOT, SO TO SPEAK.
-
I've never voted Democrat in my life. I unfortunately moved to a state that is predominantly Democrat. That being said I agree this is borderline incompetence by NCC. I am sure if this was taxes owed to state you'd have a lien slapped on you by now. Maybe some of our tax dollars can be redirected where better suited. Like more help processing our apps since they are obviously overloaded in that office.
-
Just got my new permit in the mail today. Turned all the paperwork in on Feb 11. So my wait time was about 7 months.
-
Applied (1st timer) August 27th, received permit today, October 7th. 34 DAYS!!! Sussex County.
-
Congrats!! Looks like Sussex County has their act together. NCC not so much. The only thing I can assume is lazy workers, not enough workers or blatant anti-gun bias..
-
OR ALL 3!
-
What is an actual action step that one can/should take to improve NCC's situation?
I've already contacted my representative, but I feel as if that isn't enough. Is there someone else I should speak with?
I plan on contacting GOA today or Monday to see if they have any suggestions for me because they have a track record of getting things done.
-
Just an FYI, I talked to prothonotary office yesterday. I was told that the batch of permits that I am in was at the judge to be signed, and that my permit would most likely be sent out next week. I filed a new application in NCC on may 3rd. So those of you who applied in April/May should be getting permits soon. I will update when I actually have it in hand.
-
That's interesting. I would like to know how they process apps? I filed in March and was told this week it was still at the DOJ has been since August.
-
They have boxes marked, 'in', 'out', and Ignore. Guess where the permits are...
-
Sounds like you could talk to 5 people, and get 5 different answers from them. Hopefully the guy I talked to is right. I was suprised. The first number I called, a lady Answered, took my info and said someone would call me. I didn’t think I would hear back. 10 min later I gotta call from a guy who told me what I said previously. So we’ll see what happens.
-
I applied April 4th New Castle County and received my license today.
-
Congrats! I guess they're starting to move along but now I'm starting to feel a certain way 😂 🤨
-
Congrats. I talked to a buddy of mine that put his packet in a month after me, and got his last fri. I’m hoping mine shows up this week.
-
I applied May20th and received my license today.
-
Congrats!!!
-
6 months is ridiculous.
-Simon

Agreed. Letter to Sen & Rep is in order.
-
for those of us stuck in NCC, letters, etc., are a waste of time, since most of our representation would prefer we not be allowed to have a firearm. Todd will disagree.
-
Squeaky wheel...
If they don't hear they surely not act.
-
Democrat doctrine: never fail to take advantage of an emergency. (Covid-19)
This has given them an excuse to practically shut down the NCC permit system.
