Title: instant online carry???
Post by: Just Bill on April 02, 2017, 02:18:30 PM
Not sure if this has been discussed here.  I saw it a couple of weeks ago, free, online in about 20-30min, quick test and you are certified for concealed carry in about 30 states, it says.  I am pretty sure this is not legal in DE and most surrounding states.  Nothing about background checks or proficiency with a gun.  I can assume that De residents not familiar with our law might take this and feel it is legal?????

Yup, this is nothing but felony level problems waiting to give some poor schlup the rudest of awakenings.

Even if you had that certification the state of Delaware still requires you to have a permit from the state

If I am thinking of the same ad, it's for a conceal carry permit for Virginia. Virginia only requires an online test, a photo and fingerprints if I recall. The online test is free, until you need to print your copy at home. Then they tack on a $50 or so fee. All that said, as of last year you could use the FREE exam on the Washington DC Police website and use that for the training part of your Virginia CCW.

So bottom line, YES their online test is FREE but you have to send them money to prove you passed it.

I did see the VA ID in the ad, but this is on the web so I assume it is universal, and suggests it is legal in 30 states.  I would not like to be a NJ resident that thought this was OK.

This online training is why Delaware dropped Virginia a couple years back

You still are responsible to know how will accept it. The VA resident/non-resident does get you about 30 states.

While this is true, we know how many folks are when it comes to stuff on the interwebs...they don't look for the fine print, let alone read and comprehend it.
