How in the world do you have a loaded 45 around a 4 year old. Glad she's still around and hope she gets better soon.  2A girl big time. I just can't imagine how that situation evolved. Accident or stupidity?

This should be your rule of conduct.
If not in Condition Red, or at the range, your handgun should be holstered or in your safe/vault.

Loaded guns all over my house and in my vehicles, but never out of my control around kids!!!!
