Open carry in Dover Delaware
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:16:03 PM »
Hey everyone I just talked to the Dover police department as I read online that Doverwood is now allowing open carry. The officer said that the chief of police issues a special permit within the city of Dover limits for the open carry and that it was new. He was not exactly sure how the process work so if anybody knows please post this online.

Dont remember if I read it here or on DELOC but if you write the Chief he will issue a special OC permit.  Will have to look for it.

Bulldog,
You have to write a letter to the chief of police. A guy on www.deloc.org posted a thread about it in the general forum. I believe it was called "I am jeramiah black". I wrote a letter to chief Hosfelt last week asking permission to open carry, while I am waiting for my CCW.

Here is the link to the thread:

This is like battered sibling syndrome.  Little tidbits of hope like this tend to keep me happy.

Good luck and hopefully it will not be a long wait for the letter to come.
It would suck if the CCDW came before the letter.

Much better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
