Taurus PT111 G2
« on: February 02, 2017, 04:40:38 AM »
I was in a local gun store today because I want to buy my first handgun.  After countless hr of reading and watching videos, I picked the Taurus PT111 G2 because it looks like a nice starter gun and its in my price range.
Well, the guy told me that they dont sell them anymore because Taurus is getting sued because of a discharge when dropped. I thought it was the first gen, not the Gen 2.
Can anyone clear this up for me???

Taurus revolvers are OK, but their semi-auto pistols have too many problems.

Hopefully it works out well for you and you don't have a need to deal with what I understand to be awful after sales support from Taurus.

Recommend an American made gun. Buy American, always.

I needed to send my Taurus R851 to them for repairs and had no problems except the shipping cost that I solved by having my gunsmith send it for me for $15. I got my gun back 3 weeks later and was in good shape. I think it was the hammer spring.

The problems were with the Gen1 guns. I had a PT111 that I had to send back to the shop but I probably caused the problem myself. The instructions say not to use +P ammo and I did. They replaced the slide and it seemed OK after that. I could not trust it after that and ended up with a Ruger SR40c and you can feed anything through it with no problems. My wife has the SR9c. Fine guns and like some of the others have said, American made. I have not heard bad comments about the G2.

A friend bought a PT111 G2 as he didn't have much to spend and he loves it.
He actually bought a second one for his wife.  ::)

I've got a Glock 26 and a 43 for my wife. I like both, and never had a problem with them. The buy American argument is hard to deny, but Austria makes a very good gun.

Some of Gaston's guns are made here in Georgia too.  Heck my Glock 19 is marked USA not Austria.
