Does anyone have any comments about the Smith & Wesson bodyguard?
I was considering one as a spare, but I read some mixed reviews
about jamming. It would not be my main gun, just a backup.
any suggestion or comments?

I looked into it for my wife's carry gun, but I got her a 340PD instead: lighter, more powerful, and double-action-revolver reliable.

The 340PD is a solid choice. Being a very lightweight hand gun how is the recoil? I have not had a chance to fire one yet.

We haven't fired it yet.

It looks neat, I'd like to see how it compares to the LCP. Ruger is coming out with a LC9 soon btw, ships Feb. 1.

I assume you are talking about the .380. I got the .38+P revolver and am not really pleased with the trigger. Hamerless pull is over 8#, but it is easier to conceal than my other guns. And the +P certainly has a punch!! Their .380 was too small for me, even with my small hands.

I like the 380, it is light, easy to conceal, trigger not so bad. I use Hornaday critical defense ammo and really like the little punch that it has.
I just got a S&W Shield and really like this as well.

In 380 I am a Wather PPKS fan.

The 380 bodyguard is a great little gun, have had mine for a while, many rounds and no issues

my 380 came with a laser and I have a blast shooting with that

I was talking to my nephew in Louisiana and he was telling me he bought a S&W Bodyguard .380 for his wife for Christmas. It wasn't a surprise, he took her to the local gun shop and she test fired several and picked the .380.
He says she has a natural nack for shooting. I told him, "don't for get, she grew up in Texas".

Just an F.Y.I the Bodyguard 380 will fire straight out of a mud puddle as i found this out the hard way this week. Nothing but good to say about this gun. Tough little firearm I would take anywhere

Shot a rental once, put 50 rounds through it. No issues just didn't like the feel. Shot accurate too.

When I was looking for a new carry pistol for my wife, I mentioned that I was considering a .380...
She was not familiar with that caliber, so I explained that it was a shorter 9mm round with less muzzle energy.
"Why... don't you love me anymore?"
I got her a .357 Magnum instead.

My wife loves hers. I also carry it in cargo shorts with a pocket holster. No issues with it at all. Hard to find.

The bodyguard was my first hand gun. I liked it and could shoot it well and it looks bad (as in cool). It's light weight and easily concealable. I read about this gun jamming but, it only jammed 2x's on me and it was because I wasn't locking my elbows/wrists. Once I figured out how to shoot well, the gun never jammed. If it feels good, and you can shoot it well, then it might be a gun for you.

The Revolver .38 Bodyguard, is very much like any of the J-Frames with the exception of the cylinder release that is mounted above the grip in a more left-hand shooter friendly position, but even if you are left-handed and have become accustomed to the cylinder release on the left of the frame, it may take some getting used to. Other than that the .38 Bodyguard is as reliable, sturdy and concealable as any J-frame. The laser sight is a nice addition and so far has functioned well. I have several revolvers for concealed carry and my go-to most often is one of my J-Frames. I've not had a chance yet to try the Semi-auto Bodyguard yet but I do hear good things about it.

Its not a bad gun. I have one and its my back up gun. The thing is that it seems to have a bit of snap to it. Originally it was for my wife and had too much snap for her. I do like that it has a safety on it.
Overall its not a bad gun. I probably would not buy another one. I got it at a good price a couple years ago before I met my favorite FFL ;) during smith & Wesson days at Targetmaster.
